trouble syncing both mpc1k and mpc60 to separate MIDI clock

so i have a MIDI clock source running into my MPC1000 (into MIDI I). i am synced in to MIDI 1 as midi in slave and synced out as master to MIDI out A on the 1000. midi out A then runs into MIDI in I on the 60, and i have MIDI clock synced in on input 1 and syncIn ON.

however, when i play the clock source, the 1k is perfectly synced, but the 60 is not synced at all. also, when i press play on the 1K, the 60 plays as well.

any suggestions? is there any way to just have the 60 receive clock tempo data and nothing else in order to sync with the rest of my gear?

You have to have the MIDI clock signal sent to both slave devices independently. You cannot send MIDI clock into one device, and then thru to another (unless you are using a MIDI THRU connection, and the MPC'c have no MIDI THRU. Your main MIDI clock will have to send 2 separate leads; one to the 60 and one to the 1000. What's confusing is that the MPC 1000 is sending a MMC (MIDI Machine Control) message directly to the 60, which will make it start and stop when the master sequencer plays. This is not the same as MIDI clock, however, and has not sync information in the signal.

actually, i got it working now.

jjos 4.99 on the 1k. set soft thru to omni A, set sync out to off. settings on the 60 same as above. works like a charm.
