Each time i do a song, i save entire memory to a different folder, that way each song and their files are in separate folders. But if i created something and save it to a folder, is there any way i can completely reset the memory and start fresh, without having to turn the mpc off and back on?

i hate having to unassign all pads, fix all volume levels, purge all samples, etc......and i dont want to constantly turn the thing off and on.

anyway to clear the memory?

Only way is to delete all programs then all sequences & songs.

Take less time than unassigning all pads volumes etc....

Hope this helps

You must have been reading my mind (or vice versa). I was just thinking about the same thing. I wish there was a way to clear the entire memory without going into the load menu...or going through..delete programs...delete sequences..purge samples....or just as bad....turning the unit off and on again :(

A simple purge entire memory will do....

that would be tough, though having a running processes screen like in windows task manager would be cool.

keep in mind if you cleared the entire memory the system would crash, and you would need to reboot the OS.

The MPC 5K already has a clear memory function..which doesn't crash the unit. by the way. Unfortunately, it is in the load menu and you access this function when you load something.

What we suggest is having this function in another place such as the Purge Menu which only erases samples in memory that have yet to be assigned to a program. A Purge ALL function which erases ALL SEQ, ALL PRGM, ALL SND, etc would be a nice to help improve workflow.

possibly, but it isn't clearing absolutely everything from ram.

I just got my MPC5K 2 weeks ago to setup for live shows(I don't trust laptops anymore) and only really started getting my material together so i havent tried switching and loading different songs yet.

So what everyone is saying if i need to load a new track to perform i have the turn the unit off then back on to clear the memory to load the other track?

Going to Load-Clear-then load my next folder wont work?

Most of my tracks take up to 100+ Megs of ram, waiting the minute or so for the tracks to load is bad enough but turning on and off the unit 8 times during a live set dosent seem to be a good idea to me.

Also, a little off topic here but anyone else have a problem of grid edit not writing notes on occasion?

Add it to the bug report thread.

Are you trying to record while in Grid Edit? Yes, that's Grid EDIT...not Grid Record. Perhaps a feature request but not a bug. I don't think the manual says you can record in Grid EDIT...not Grid RECORD. : )
