What is the largest HD that I can use? AKAi Tech support is

Few clues for a few of you fools I have been making beats on the MPC since the 3000 that is 92 to be exact I have create my own stero drum and have aquired every library up to day now if you need to post paragraphs that are not edit so cats can read do not hate on what others do.

It just might be what you do so if you go 150 GB of samples that is you I never said I scroll through anything just leave it to me okay I know what I am doing I just bought the 2500 and just in a few days into it I am getting my feel for it.

I have a server that just house my sounds alone I do IT for a living so explaining this to you will confuse you just take what I say as my opinion do not hate on what you do not do if I have the money to buy Terabyte drives than leave it to me.

If I have time to mirror and backup then leave it to me I been done the road here my floppy and zip drives have failed with 600 beats on them so I know what i am doing.

When you get there then talk until then please take what i say as what works for me.....

I haven't researched into it, but I imagine there is a practical limit to how many files can reside on a hard disk on any given system. If you have a lot of single hits a few kb large you may run into this limit. But I'd expect you to know this better than me anyway since you are into IT.

You could possibly do with a thicker skin too, but that is none of my biz.

I know the 4k started with a 60 gig, then went to a 80, then to a 120, all approved by the manufacturer. Now I'm hearing of folks going beyond those limits.

For one, it may be due to the availability of these older drives. If I were to grab one today, a 160 would be the smallest I'd be able to find. Although I could wait until the local comp show arrives in my area, that might end up being my best bet.

what is the largest partition size the 2500 can read? what is the max number of partitions the 2500 can read?

What file system is the OS for the 2500 most similar to? (dos based or unix based, chances are they didn't create entirely their own)

guys I am fine with my 2gb flash I can move it to my harddrive on my pc and run my daily backups to protect my library.

This was posted when i first bought the product but a harddrive will not be needed am doing a work around for that and works out better.

I have the full bullllllllllshhhhhhhhitttttttttttt!!!! 128mb oldskooooooool ram which I did a work around and had a stick from back in the day and installed a 256 PC133 for free AKAI should be sued for old technology that is not used anymore there is a reasone why and i would start with the mother board and the programmer behind the scenes that has not found away to catch up with the times.....

anyways, how much ram do you need to run a few samples? It's not like you are trying to sequence the entire boston symphony orchestra.

I do however agree that maybe they should use ddr or ddr2 at least for the speed.

That what I mean faster ram means faster load time also same with a S ATA drive with 32mb cache would have been great...

lol...don't tell me you would notice any difference at all when loading about 100MB. That is bullsh**.

The only technical flaw when it comes to data transfer is the slow USB1 connection.

Now possible NTFS would help I think for an extra $300 pushing the limit to 2k this would have been worth it really but i can deal with it for now

no, fat 32 is faster then ntfs and we dont need permission protection on an mpc.

I just bought a Toshiba 100gb on ebay. I was looking for a 40gb but ran into the 100gb at only 29.99 so I figured why not....

I will let you guys know how it turns out and if everything is fine I will post up the model that I picked up.
