Has anyone ever thought when JJOS gets caught or is sued so he can not make any more fixes to the version he worked on and stole from akai from the 5000 series.

This is the only reason why I am holding back from it. Why should I buy something that is not support year around until the next version is developed?

Really I know most of you guys are happy but with what have you ever used a 4 second sampler from numark to sample with and used a 4 track tape muiltrack to work with. that what i call a long time to make a beat. do not go with the fast route it will make your beats faster to make but are your beats selling?

not hating just stating the facts if this dude decides to quite there goes your support akai will be around there sales state it.

I do not want to discourage anyone from ordering the OS I would if I felt more comforable with were it was coming from. Akai always have gotten it together through there revisions and it never cost myself anything.

Why pay more for something that will not be supported in realtime? 1800?

I have v1.24 and I can do what I want with this version yes since I bought my 2500 2 weeks ago there been problems but nothing to jump to an OS that will not possible be around for years to come.

what happens when akai gets it act together and put what the JJOS has for there later updates that means you lost out on $88 no?

with life time support until retired!!

Just my few pennies that all

cause its a fully useable tool...you spend so much on the mpc why don t spend a few bucks for some nice extra featueres??

i support that!!!cause now we get the chance to make the os better!!!when the 1000 released it takes akai 6 month to get a os the fix some bad as bugs...

now take a look at the jjos there a few bugs?okay he fix that in a few days!!!i i think now cooking something big over there in his kitchen!!!i guessing something big for the jjos2 1.20...

lordy, your facts are allllll wrong.

Has anyone ever thought when JJOS gets caught or is sued so he can not make any more fixes to the version he worked on and stole from akai from the 5000 series.

A, there's nobody to "catch."
B, he never stole anything and akai cannot sue him
C, he's had nothing to do with the 5000 whatsoever.

you're running on bad info. jj's software team used to work for akai. when akai went bankrupt, akai US wrote to jj and said "keep working." jj kept working. then akai stopped paying jj's software team - jj kept his work.

if a man orders twelve cakes from a baker and never pays, is it theft if the baker keeps the cakes and sells them to other folks? f*ck no.

Akai always have gotten it together through there revisions and it never cost myself anything.

the mpc1000 is still underfeatured and barely "together" more than 4 years after its release.

what happens when akai gets it act together and put what the JJOS has for there later updates that means you lost out on $88 no?

no akai os update will ever come close to jjos2, ever. sh!t, the 5000 os is clunky and has a slow workflow compared to jjos2. the 2500 will never have inst pgms, an improved grid edit, jjos equivalent chopping, aftertouch...

i hope this puts you at ease. the only danger to jjos is the American economy.

It's $88 for a MUCH better machine. You get Porsche performance at a Pinto price. You still want the Pinto warranty?
I should note, you can always install the factory OS whenever Akai/Numark get it together, but don't sweat the price for the JJ os.. you will spend a lot more on other equipment that your gonna sell later and chances are, your still gonna be using your MPC.
The JJ os is the schyt. If you ever use the 1000 with the factory OS, you will realize how wrong Akai was to release it in the first place. They purposely limited the machine. The MPC1000 is basically an MPC2500. For $88, there is no better upgrade you will ever purchase. The Roger linn upgrade for the MPC-60 was $300, and it did NOTHING compared to JJ's OS.

There is no reason to doubt what you are saying, but this is JJ's side of the story, and I have yet to hear from Akai (which I doubt we ever will) on this.

But technically speaking, the new Akai owns the rights to the OS - and there is a possibility that he can be sued. Him not being paid is a separate issue and does not justify him releasing the OS off his own back - it is different from the cake example in many ways, although I get what you are saying. Life is unfair.

I can respect that. Lose a few tracks/programs/sequences you worked on for hours on end that you 'saved' and you'll see the light.

You wont know how dope the jjos is until you try it.

akai only owns the rights to the os that jj made under their payroll, ie up until os 2.01 released in december 05. akai owns all the cakes they previously purchased, not the recipe. ownership ceased when "New OS" betas were released - this reflected work done on the MPC os that was post-termination. now, we have os2, which is a far cry from the original, with enormous changes under the hood.

if akai was going to sue, they would have done it in 2007 when jj started selling the os. this is simply not going to happen - it'd be a bad decision that even akai won't make.

I agree - the train has left, and it would do them more harm than good. But I believe they have the rights to the code, no matter which direction it is taken after the fact. But I am no expert, so perhaps you are right. We are in international waters here, and it all just becomes too complicated.

Anyway, we as users have truly benefitted. I am using OS 1 and am happy with it.

Whats with this guy? ???

All the JJOS' kick a$$!!! I just bought JJOS1 and Im currently waiting for my password. :D Once I get that I will pay for OS2.

You want to buy a 250gb HDD for your 2500 but aint willing to spend $88 for a FAR BETTER OS?

Put it like this man...
In my opinion the 2 best MPC's out are the 4k's and then comes the 2500 as long as you have the JJOS2.

Just buy it man. Worth your money. Have you even downloaded the JJOS1 to try?

Who, me?

Just kidding.

xibalba1875 - - Sorry for being short earlier but... I would love to hear some facts on the JJ matter, apart from the things he kindly have shared himself (or somebody assosciated with him) - I know Akai are unhappy about JJ but otherwise there is nothing and I guess it ends there. Oh well. Rawk on.
