BUTTON NOT WORKING!!!

I have a similar problem with the "cursor down" button. It works if I push it really hard, sometimes taking several attempts to make it work. What I don't understand - my MPC is just 4 months old, and hasn't seen much (ab)use. WTF?

So, is replacing the contact the only solution? I was hoping for a quick fix like "spray some contact cleaner on it" (I know it's ridiculous, I'm just not so good at soldering - making a TRS cable is pretty much the top of my abilities .

Is this the right contact?

Ok I just bought a used one yesterday, (didn't have it for 24hrs yet) my f1 and my f6 buttons both stopped working. Wow was all I could say cause I paid 899 for it, and I would be damned if I spent that kind of money and this 2500 already screwed me. Ok so I read this very forum article and what do u know I had an old drum machine from like the 80's that I opened up and there they were like 30 of those little under button trigger things. So I got out my trusty soldering iron (yes I do stuff like this) just to see how hard it would be to remove one from my old drum machine. It only took about 5 min after the soldering iron got hot. So now I was like do I try and remove the one from my MPC I just bought!!!???? Well I said **** it, the thing doesn't work now and if I remove it (very carefully) and replace it with one from the old drum machine what could happen. Well as luck would have it, .........................IT WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!!! Strange though I replaced 1 and then plugged it in to see if that 1 worked not only did it work but the other 1 worked flawless as well without being touched. Maybe that's the reason someone pawned it in the 1st place. anyhow I just made a couple of beats with it constantly pushing all the buttons to see if anything went wrong and happy to report they all work!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe there was some lost contact on the board and when I solder the 1 in it fixed the connection... I don't know but I'm back on beats ............ [url]myspace.com/1etrackworks[/url]

yeah but watch the 80's drum machine he took the part from turn out to be a 909.. lol.

I'm that same guy that soldered his MPC 2500 button back. Man that thing still works flawlessly, and no that 80's drum machine wasn't a 909 it was A korg drum machine hella wack.... I beat that MPC like it took my ****, and it still asks for more....
