PLAYING A BASS LINE ON AN MPC

Hi guys

I want to play a bass line on my MPC.

It seems though that when I try to do it, each pad seems to entirely play out the full wav file, so I end up with a whole heap of notes sustaining over one another, and it sounds rubbish.

Can anyone help point the way so I can play a bassline just like I would on a synth?

Easy now....... mode pad 7(program screen) hit F3 (params),top right corner scroll right to mono from poly.
or and also change sample to note on.

there are a few ways; you could set a pad to mono playback, spread that over 16 pads play with attack/decay and youre good... or, if you have different bass sounds you want to link together just set the pads to mute each other out

as these guys said, prgrm----mono or mute groups..

Poly is how i do it personally.

Another option: hit program and go to the 'sample' page. Highlight the sample, and press window. Now, change 'one shot' to 'note on'.

Now the bass sample stops playing once you have let go of the pad/ key.
