Insight, What Do You Guys Look For

i usually look for album art that has a female singer with that fro. i then look at the back and see if it lists the instruments used.

^ I disagree with that. You limit your production by saying not to f*do with a specific time period or genre.

I don't think it is a bad tip for beginners though. Everyone has to have a start somewhere. I have only been on one dig since I'm still waiting on my MPC in the mail (damn UPS!), but I don't tread too far out of those boundaries for now.

Look for the records featured on Ultimate Breaks & Beats. This will point you in the right direction and establish years, labels, artists and styles you should be checking out to start getting in to it.

YEAH!!!!!!!!! PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THE JERI CURLS!!! AND SPECIALLY THE 80's 12". I want them all for myself!!!!!!!!

i've got no problem with sampling 80s shit, but i do cut it off at a certain point. i feel out of principle my samples should be at least 2 decades old.
