boondoc posted a video about digging on youtube. it was helpful for me. he said dont fck with the 80's because of all the extra drums and synths. he was right. i had previously had hella 80's records that i never used and wondered why this batch of records never had any good shit. so.. " stay away from artists with the jerri curl"

i usually look for album art that has a female singer with that fro. i then look at the back and see if it lists the instruments used.

I don't think it is a bad tip for beginners though. Everyone has to have a start somewhere. I have only been on one dig since I'm still waiting on my MPC in the mail (damn UPS!), but I don't tread too far out of those boundaries for now.

Look for the records featured on Ultimate Breaks & Beats. This will point you in the right direction and establish years, labels, artists and styles you should be checking out to start getting in to it.

YEAH!!!!!!!!! PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THE JERI CURLS!!! AND SPECIALLY THE 80's 12". I want them all for myself!!!!!!!! :evil: :twisted:
