Just tried the 5K yesterday for the first time. It rocks. The best sound i have ever heard coming from a hardware machine. It beats the pants off Roland, Korg, and Yamaha by a long shot, and the analog synth sounds absolutely awesome. I will be getting one.

when my kids (that I dont have yet) graduate from highschool, I am going to buy them an akai mpc 10,000 double XL that has te built in theramin and brain interface for thought sampling. also comes with the tr-808 sample disk. it's also gonna have te jjos ver 58.2 because by then akai still wont be able to make a solid OS.

on a serious note, I am looking forward to hearing the results on some pro records made with the 5000.. does anyone know of any that by chance are out by now?

I don't understand everyone putting akai down when your a member of the mpc-forums?

The MPC is the best invention since the microwave IMO. EVERY sampler will have it's cons and bugs. You must look at the big picture. Akai has provided me with an extraordinary piece of equipment that is now the brain of my studio. If you hate akai so much why don't you join a Roland forum or something. Not being a dick I'm just confused about all the trash talk towards Akai.

well, IMO... i think most of us that have been with AKAI MPC Brand since the 90's would have kinda expected a breakthrough further then what is provided in the current MPC's, considering there are other and better alternatives to some. But anyway... this would start a whole new convo
