gating...

just wondering if there is any way to gate external sounds with the jj os.
i remember i had a electribe drum machine back in the day and it was fun running my bass amps low pass out into that imput and gating it rythmicly through that little bugger.

nah i dont think so, that would be a wikkid feature though, i remember that 1 on the electribes.

not currently possible. i have been wanting JJ to add a gate to the OS for a long time but it's probably not going to happen.

BUT, what you can do is use some extreme settings on the master compressor & then run your input thru that. the beats you have going on the mpc will 'duck' your external signal (or vice versa, depending on your levels). you can control this by tweaking the REC GAIN knob. i do this a lot and it works great. not exactly the same as using a gate but it has its uses.

theorecticly its sounds simple to implement, but in th real world probably a lot harder to code.

All thats needed is the ability to assign a pad to turn on/off the audio input on par with the sequencer . Like any synth with Audio ins you must hold down the key to hear the incoming audio, as the signal replaces an internal oscillator.

i used to luv gating an un-tuned radio thru my electribe and filter/delay the rfuk outta the static.
