Just got my JJOS2 password. :D

So far so good... The main screen is just insane on JJOS2. Has alot of stuff. A bit confusing coming from a original 500 user when Im just used to a small tiny screen.
Grid mode is dope.
ADSR!!!
Splash Screen is dope.
A bunch of other stuff I gotta go through... I gotta print that manual out.

Is it just me or does that splash screen only last for a second or two?

I have info about who owns it and an email address on it (in case it gets stolen) but it is too quick to read.

I've just upgraded from the Akai OS to JJOS1 :D . I've had my 2500 for about 6 months but thought I'd give the Akai OS a chance, plus I had the MPC2500 ebook which is all about the Akai OS. All I can say is it was 6 months of wasted time, seriously all new users of the 2500 should go straight for the JJOS. I've only had it running for 2 days and already I've lost count of the number of times I've said 'F**K! It does that! Cool!' :D .

I can honestly not understand anyone going back to the Akai OS after JJ.

Do it now! You won't regret it.

Yeah the splash screen only lasts a few seconds. So far I only got the the splash screen that is posted on the JJ site, still cool though.
I spent some time trying to make one but it didnt work? Not sure why though... It was a bitmap file and it was 240 x 64 pixels.

But yeah I didnt waste any time on the Akai OS. The moment I turned on my 2500 for the 1st time I was installing the JJOS1. :D

Hey looks like the jjos is quite nice that`s good to know but is a shame that akai is just **** up the company somehow, they should take the bad experience after mpc 4000 and all the software coming up and hardware coming down, because the reason we love hardware and we are willing to spend money on it is stability we don`t want to have crashes in the middle of the set right?

so if they are selling us a buggy os why to buy hardware when there is plenty of soft that is really cool?

I personally own a 2000xl and would be nice if this guy go back a little and make a new os for that unit not because is not stable i think this unit is rock solid and so tested but to have new functions for live playing and stuff but that`s to look back to much maybe, so I want something like the 5000(thinking about it but not sure is worthy) but i dont want to imagine how is the os working since it has been just released we will need to wait to jj to work and fill al the shit akai is not doing these days i guess.

i know people will say why to buy the 5000 if you can get the 2500 same thing as 2000xl vs 1000 with jj os i guess.

why wont be a 5000 jjos? are you shure? Im one of those who are thinking to upgrade from 2000xl to a new one but im uncertain about it, The good news is that all of you are saying good things about the 2500 and 1000 jjos so that`s a good hint, but In the beginning I thought that the 5000 had a lot of possibilities but now i must check twice ,Im using the mpc more for a live situation not to produce anymore, I prefer to handle all the editing and sound design to programs like reaktor and supercollider etc.

but for live performance I dont trust computers hahaha , but i felt my mpc2000xl is geting behind my needs,
So for all of you that alredy are using the jjos lets say in 2500 or 1000( is mostly the same right? 1000 and 2500 just hardware difference outputs ,pads etc)

what would you recomend me? I need to load all my tracks to play live kind of ableton live, you know to be able to triger secuences or loops with the pads but to have both stuff like in 2000xl you can retriger each sample that the pad contains in different modes you know, at the same time to be able to use something like next sequence assigned to pads
this way i can triger a secuence that will be looping exactly as 2000xl and ableton live but here comes the part im talking about, to be able to have both at the same time , to have some musical phrases looping while you are trigering single shots of drums to improvise on top of those loops that`s what i need.

can you do that on the 2500 with jj os?, do you have a personal idea about the new 5000? thanks to all :D

Check for yourself on the JJOS website. They have a chart that shows you the differences.

Staying with the Akai OS is lame... Dont waste your time.

Yes.

Install it first then you pay after... Once you pay you are provided with a Password that lets you SAVE work on your 2500.

If you do not pay you will be able to do everything on the machine besides save your work.

Once you pay it takes about 24hrs or less to recieve your password. Read the directions so that you wont get lost.
