MPC1000s are kind of ugly..

Does anyone else find this? Don't get me wrong, I love my MPC. But it's just kind of awkward and ugly looking. This was really hammered home to me when I brought home an Elektron Machinedrum the other day. I set the MPC and the Machinedrum next to each other and... damn the the Machinedrum makes the MPC look all big and plasticy.


That said, I still love it to bits!

I agree with you man. But it's about the sound it can generate together with ur creativity. Never heard Stevie Wonder complain about the fact he isn't able to see his piano.

After looking at some screen shots of that Elektron Machinedrum, I think it looks wack. Not something I would buy. A bunch of buttons and words does not make it a good thing. Less is more...

Just my opinion.

I love the look of the 1000's and the 2500's. They look like they are ready to work.

I love the 1000. It doesn't have a whole lot of extra surface space just being ugly. And I also don't spend a lot of time just staring at it (although I did just get it last night lol). If you're thinking about how ugly it is, I advise getting back to work!

I love the look of the 1000 myself. It looks like a toy but it can do some amazing things.

sure shes ugly but maaaan.. can she cook up up a nice meal right?

and besides its the inside that counts.

Hehe hey! I like making music just as much as the next guy. I actually use my MPC 1000 as a live performance tool more than anything, and I've toured in lots of different countries with my band. But to me, it's a performance prop. And people watch you perform, it's really important to me how it looks. I mean, of course the first and foremost concern is how it sounds and how it works. But... the poor thing leaves something to be desired for in the looks department for me

Does anyone find the smallish size counter intuitive for performance? I mean, does it make it feel like less of a performance instrument to anyone being just a bit smaller. Obviously it's much easier to transport, I take mine in a backoack on planes all the time which is great. But then on stage, it feels a lot more like playing an SP series sampler than an MPC in some ways
