help with loading floppy disks into mpc 2000xl

Why not?

Save the sounds onto your desktop, format the floppy to fat or fat16, save the
sounds back onto your floppy, follow the manual page I suggested and load them.

ok, im formatting some floppys..
when i format it it gives me 3 options..

-quick
-full
-copy system files only

i formatted 4 on quick.
will they work or should i pick another option?

we'll find out in a few haha.

yeah, 3 = LOAD when you press it with shift, buddy.

BUMP.

mpc still doesnt read my floppy's..
im sure the drive is working though b/c
i checked out the LOAD screen with no floppy in it
and then checked again with a floppy that has .wav drum sounds in it.

the only difference is that where it says TYPE= it says "????" (with floppy inside)
then with no floppy, it says "no disk"

anyone? help please. :D

Told you before the floppy format is not what the mpc likes. Anything other than fat/fat16 ot it's own format it wont recognize.

Note that the MPC2000 cannot read folders, so when you transfer your files to disk, you will need to remove all folders first. Please also note that the MPC2000 struggles to read computer formatted data CDROMs. Apart from this, the transfer process is identical to the MPC2000XL.

Maybe try downloading 'Mpc Editor' by midicase.
It's a free program and it should help.
It creates programs on the floppy disk that the Mpc will recognize

The whole transferring sounds of the computer to Mpc can be a bit tricky, I'm sure some of the more experienced heads on here have had better luck than me.
But that's the only way I've done it.

I generally find it's easier to just sample the sounds into the Mpc.
Then save them to Floppy disk.
To do that you need to format the floppy disk in the mpc
Shift -disk format - do it.
