seriously you guys like the sound on the mpc 1000/2500? without the jokes and insults, I mean you guys really prefer that sound as opposed to earlier mpc or ensoniq products? regardless of features, Iam talking sound.

Duke - How come you didnt say that to the person that typed about whats a good emulator to get sp1200 sound? that aint about chopping, is it?

not everyone is interested in lo-fi sound, not to mention those machines are more hassle than they are worth in todays modern studio. (workflow, data storage, size, reliablity, etc.)

I agree, but I will never get rid of my asr10. For several reasons, biggest being the warm sound of it, I love.

Chopping on an asr10 is not hard at all, it's just that some people these days are graphical users and cringe at the thought of chopping by numbers and using their ears more than their eyes. Which imo your ears have the final says anyway.

I can move between both at any time, I don't have a preference.

Great comments...

Point (1) if it's not about money, here's my suggestion - get the 1000 so you can have something "old school" and something "new school." This way, you can sound clean or dirty. And if you get the JJOS for the 1000, you can record loops straight from the SP 1200 into the 1000; in essence, extending your sample time by dumping in "DAW style" without having to use the computer.

Point (2) the SP 1200 is hella rare and worth a lot of money nowadays, so if you record your SP into the 1000, you can perform live without worrying about someone spilling a Guiness on your precious Hip Hop gem.

Point (3) equipment reminds me of cars... everyone likes certain models for their own reason. Some people like old school whips (68 Camaro, 65 Mustang, Shelby Cobra) without all the bells and whistles, like navigation systems and bose surround sound... and some people love whatever the latest, newest whips are (Escalade, Benz).

The bottom line is: as long as you get to where you're going, it's up to you how you enjoy the ride!
