NEW 2 THE 4000 NEED A LITTLE HELP

Jus won a 4000 wondering how u guys are b.p.m snycing ur samples since u cant audition them as samples 2 ur beat.Coming from a mv 8000 i find the mpc 4000 is a bit better but this sample thing is killing me. So if anybody has a answer please help.THANKS

Why not? Just load the sample, then work the sequencer. There's other ways of doing it as well. But unless you've got the latest o.s. and have downloaded the pdf files for the user manual, it's going to be a challenging learning curve for u.

Load the up the sample, in the Edit Screen, Slice and Sequence..

I take it that you're going at it hard in the blind. Hint: Go to http://www.akaipro.com and hit up the mpc series. Then go to legacy mpc's and you'll find everything you need to know about that 4k you now own.

oh, btw most of us have 1.71. But see if you can get Akai to release a new update for eveyone, or better still, see if you can contact jj. He's releasing os's for everything else Akai is putting out.

resample your groove / sequence to a pad ....

that way you can always monitor the sample WITH your groove / sequence playing *by hitting that pad

the tempo thing you'll have to work out if you load the sample.. in trim like Dave said.. timestreatch, dice, tune, whatever you ride with

another way is to use a computer for this like> live, its way faster for paper work like this, as you can quickly scrool tons of samples with autopilot to bpm... then drop them in akaisys.. and vanilla ice their in your 4k

depends on your method ... personally I use the mpc 99% of the time, even if its slower for that, I know what samples I'm looking for and Im usually faster using the mpc all the way.. rather than firing up another noisy fan in the studio..

Good point GLIDE but im so used 2 jus ripping my sample from 12inch or cd 2 my mv 8000 & setting the params b.p.n sync etc and not having 2 put it n a program 2 do all that.

Welcome to the world of "new ways of doing things". Ak.sys is equivalent to you being able to do the same thing, just as you would connect that monitor to your mv, but only BETTER.

The processing takes place off-line and not within the mpc. This is what makes it better to do your off-line editing, processing, or whatever you're looking to do.

curios, how did you WIN a 4000 and do you still have the mv?

i won the 4000 n a local beat battle i still have the mv thats my baby.But this mpc 4k holy sh*t alot of options im keeping both the mv im used 2 work flow iz so easy but u cant load up all ur sounds like the mpc at 1 time.1 that battle with dj equip and a mv now im hearing u can hook ur dj mixer 2 ur mpc need 2 no how and can u load pics so i can show u guys.THANKS

Hey I have a 4000 and a MV8800 and I'm not getting rid of either of them. Both have their strengths and weakness.

You're doing it again. Slow down, and make your post easier to understand.

J NICKS u should b able 2 help me being u have a mv 8800 both machines are like night & day when it comes 2 sampling.They both have there pros & cons but the 4000 im lovin jus trying 2 figure out how ppl are sampling i need a step by step.THANKS 4 HELPING A NewB

Actually I'm new to the sampling game. Don't use it much. I got the 4k because of 2midi ins and 4midi outs.

You may not believe this, but I sample through my daw most of the time. It's not alway the samplers that get a nice workover every now and then.
