Bar Lengths. . .

Hi.

I normally use 2 bars as the MPC always defaults to this. Im about to get my MPC in sync with Ableton Live where i will need longer than 2 bars.

- If i make a 2 bar loop when im performing, is there anyway to get it to double/copy without stopping the sequence?
- If not. . . is there anyway to get the MPC to default to 4 bar loops?

I see you haven't touched your manual. Give it a crack should be on the first few pages.

I understand that you can stop the sequencer, go to edit > bars and then copy 2 bars onto the end. . . which means you have 4 bars.

I wanted to know if i can record 2 bars and copy it whilst the sequencer is playing so i then have 4 bars?

I don't think you can. I find MPC1000 kind of limited when it comes to doing stuff while the machine is playing back

once you have your 2 bar loop in ableton, you should be able to just copy/paste that loop, then connect those together to make one 4-bar loop.

I know I can do this pro tools.

i think he's just using live to control the 1000. not recording his loops into live

why not make a 4 bar loop. plan out your performance and compensate

start your beats with 8 bar loops and trim down if you dont need the additional bars. Saves you a headache down the line. You have to try to plan ahead of your own production. Nuthing worse than being in the middle of an idea and realizing you have to figure out HOW to do what you want.
