We must be using too very different machines. Because although I want a few feature requests (several which can't be done on any MPC or MV), the 5K's OS offers plenty for its owners.

^^
Which is why I'm in this sub-forum so often. The onboard synth just seems so interesting to me.
I've since upped my MV HDD to a 160 & threw about 30GB of patches on it.
That load time to preview the patches still hurts though.
I thought the the RS w/ the onbord sounds was the answer, but the bad pads, thin sound, long loading time, & then on board sounds I wasn't found of made it a disaster for me. I love Yamaha gear. It did chop good though & all the knobs to tweak your sounds were fantastic. I see the potential of the 5K, as do many. The ? is will Akai ever reach out & do the right thing or prob even better will JJ lift up the mantle & begin on the 5K. I can only imagine what he could do with the synth engine, larger screen, & all the knobs & faders.

if the source isnt the same as the 1000\2500 jj wont be writing a new os for the 5000. the source is encrypted and you cant just decompile the bin file and go to work. and im pretty positive that after the first jj incedent akai has definitely rewrote the source to avoid looking bad. and lining the pockets of an indevidual that is not on they're payroll. dont hold your breath kiddies.... your stuck with akai.
