Storing Records

What's up everybody. I have a question about storing vinyl. I've seen some places that have the record in the paper sleeve behind the cover not in it like normal. Does this make a difference?

this helps to keep your cover from getting "ring-wear"...

are yall talkin about the inner sleeve?

I've had records shipped to me like that. The ringwear theory might be the answer.

RINGWEAR comes from storing your records tight, they take them out of the cover to store them that way,
i can't stand when they send me records like that, it' puts the record more in dangerwhen being shpped,
i have stored my records the same way upright with plastic and in the cover, and i store them in crates..me being a dj i use my records so the tops fringe a bit sometimes but that happens when you use your recors alot,

the covers where made for a reason and they even tell you on the cover of sleeve to store them in the cover for longer life.

it's just a myth that storing them in the cover will create Ringwear, ONLY IF YOU STORE THEM TIGHTLY.

yeah I WOULD SAY BOTH.

the records exposed to quicker danger, getting scratched/heat during shpping, not that the cover will protect it from something drastic but THATS WHAT IT"S FOR....STORING YOUR VINYL.

I've noticed the old thin plastic inner sleeves seem to protect the vinyl better. No paper scratches.

what if your records are leaning in the crates? kinda like a 45 degree angle but less...probly like a 25 degree angle lol

i'm not good at puttin my sh!t back where it goes and so i leave my records like this sometimes, yeah that will tend to warp them...only if it's hot where you live ,my garage gets hot in the summer and yeah if i dont pick them up before it gets hot they can warp, you get a dish warp where it's warped on oneside and hard to place on the turn or try to back que.

it's got to be one of those hot days you know 90 on up , this is my experience.

ive been lucky so far .only some records that i have paid 99 cent for ,but my luck is running out.
