Is there a way to use diffrent programs when the mpc is synced to an external device

EX. my mpc is hooked up to my mac and i am running cubase
i want to record a program i made with a chopped sample on track 1 i can do this fine... now i want to use a drum program that i created but when i switch to track to and choose a diffrent program then track 1 which should be the chopped sample using program1 is now my drum program ( program 2)

is there a way to use diffrent programs when synced to external device?

hmm mabye i didnt explain right

cubase midi track 1 to mpc (seq1) (track1) program 1 and this is set to midi and port 1

i get track 1 recorded fine and it plays how i want

cubase midi track 2 to mpc (seq1) (track2) program2 and this is set to midi port 2

now when i do this track one changes to the currently selected program
its like when i switch programs on track 2 it does it for track 1

basicaly i want to use diffrent programs but is seems like when the mpc is synced externaly it can only use one program at a time

Why do you have your num 2 midi port in use if your usein 1.......I make the mp the slave and track out with no prob............Wait ..are you makein the cuebase the slave and the mpc the master......No that cant't be ......if your goin out the cue and in the mpc in's the cue shoul;d be the master?
I'm used to protools ........Sorry I'm lost on this one.

My problem is that i cant use 2 diffrent programs on 2 diffrent midi channels

my mpc is slaved to cubase

i set seq1 tracks 1 to midi channel 1 and record program 1 fine
when i go to seq1 track 2 its auto set to program 1 so i change that to midi channel 2 and program 2 but when i change it to program 2 now track 1 midi 1 which should play program 1 is playing prog2

this is killing me all i want to do is

record program 1 to track1 midi1 and program 2 to track 2 midi 2 but seems like i can only use 1 program at a time when slaved

You might have to set them up seperatly on your cue.....I know I gotta do alot to get shhh workin on Pro T......Have you tried makein it a new seq ,new session and then bring the two together ....Might be a pain ....but it might get the job done if you cant figure out otherwise.

Have you found a solution? it's seemp strange to me that you can't use two different programs at the same time. If you have a solution please help. Thanks!

what are you guys talking about using 2 programs at once. your explanations make no sense at all. if i have program 1 on track one, and program 2 on track 2, and neither one is muted, when i record a pattern in track one and another pattern in track 2, press play and then the 2 programs are playing together. i track 6 tracks at a time into pro tools no problem. whether its individual drums, or entire programs. explain your problem better.

wait, are you sequencing in cubase and trying to trigger the mp from inside cubase?

setting midi channels in the main window of jjos is only for using external instruments. not tracking.

i have 2 synths. synth 1 is plugged into mpc port 1(or is it a?) and synth 2 is plugged into port b(2?) if i play a part on synth 1, i change the midi channel on the main screen to 1-16a. if i play a part on synth 2, i change the midi channel on the main screen to 1-16b. follow me?

for tracking what i do is slave the mpc to pro tools. then i set the outputs accordingly. thats it.

now that i typed this out, i really have no idea what you are trying to do or what you are talking about. i understand that you are trying to track. you should explain exactly what you are doing and what you are trying to do. im pretty good with this shit, ive set up a few cats studios, but again, i have no idea what you are talking about or trying to do, but im pretty sure that it is pretty basic since i have been tracking out for a couple years without running into this problem. let me know.

I have run into this problem as well. If he's setup like myself this is how it goes....

Cubase sx3 is the seq and using it and mpc via midi.
I've downloaded a template that uses the input transformer but still having the same issue.

I put 16 midi tracks in Cubase(master)
in the mpc, I select seq 1, trk 1 and use a hihat. On the bottom right, I select 'midi 1a'
record in Cubase... perfect.
Select trk 2 in Cubase. Set the midi in & out to the mpc (which in my set up is in B/out B)
On the mpc, i switch to trk 2, and change the bottom right to 'midi 2a'. But now if i change the program to a snare program, the playback of trk 1 changes to a snare sound.
Basically, we're trying to use all 16-32 midi channels/track with 16-32 different sounds in the mpc.

Btw, I'm using JJ os 3.06
