I have just got another jaz drive today off ebay and reads my original disk, like my original drive, but neither will format 5 different disks, was wondering if its because the original disk is ibm and the other mac formatted. coming up with fault id FF51:303/31/83
No, the initial format means nothing - it can always be overwritten by any device, such as your sampler. Are all these jaz disks 1GB? Which sampler are you trying this on?
I'm sorry but I don't have any further advice as to why you cannot format the disks. My experience with jaz drives are that once they start failing on formats, writes, etc, they are going (or have gone) bad. I personally have used both IBM and MAC formatted disks and I was just always able to reformat them with the sampler and use them with no problem.
