formatting 1 gb iomega jaz disks

having problems formatting disks, it can read a disk but cannot format, comes up with disk error, any ideas?

You have one of two problems: the jaz disk is going bad or the jaz drive is going bad.

I have just got another jaz drive today off ebay and reads my original disk, like my original drive, but neither will format 5 different disks, was wondering if its because the original disk is ibm and the other mac formatted.

No, the initial format means nothing - it can always be overwritten by any device, such as your sampler. Are all these jaz disks 1GB? Which sampler are you trying this on?

its a mpc 3000 with a d2 1 meg iomega jaz drive, all disks are 1 meg

Jaz drives suck those things are nothing but problems you should atleast use Zips.

but all my beats are on jaz, so want to keep to that format

I'm sorry but I don't have any further advice as to why you cannot format the disks. My experience with jaz drives are that once they start failing on formats, writes, etc, they are going (or have gone) bad. I personally have used both IBM and MAC formatted disks and I was just always able to reformat them with the sampler and use them with no problem.

so do u think the maybe a problem with the mpc?

I don't know. If possible, you need to try a different SCSI drive (like a zip drive) with your MPC and see how it behaves.
