yo is it worth my boy getting a 2k classic? ive heard mixed stories like there is zone chopping on 2k classic then other people say there is not. Can people with this machine please answer? It would be extra work to try to chop a 2 bar loop into 16 parts by copying the sample 16 times and then trimming them all down to where they need to be. Can someone please give me a solid answer? thankyou in advance.

Chapter 8: Creating and Editing Sounds

znEDIT Mode

This allows you to select and edit the sample zone.

St:
This sets the first point in the zone to edit. Select the St: field with

to change the value to an extremely large number by selecting the
digit with the DIGIT wheel. It is also possible to directly enter a
number with the numeric pad and confirm it by pressing the ENTER
key.

End:

This sets the last point in the zone to edit. Select the End: field
with the cursor and change the value with the DATA wheel. It is
possible to change the value to an extremely large number by selecting
the digit with the DIGIT wheel. It is also possible to directly
enter a number with the numeric pad and confirm it by pressing the
ENTER key.

View:

This allows you to select between LEFT and RIGHT when the sound
is stereo.

When PLAY X[F6] is pressed, it is possible to play back the currently
selected sound in full velocity according to the settings in the PLAY
X: field.

ALL This plays back the entire sound regardless
of the start point or end point settings.

ZONE This plays back the range between the start
and end point that has been set in the
znEDIT screen.

BEFOR Zn This plays back the sound before the start
point that has been set in the znEDIT
screen.

AFTER Zn This plays back the sound after the start
point that has been set in the znEDIT
screen.

BEFOR ST This plays back the sound before the start
point that has been set in the TRIM screen.

AFTER END This plays back the sound after the start
point that has been set in the TRIM screen.
It is possible to adjust the start and end points while checking them.

okay im coming from an XL so let me get this right...on the xl, you can view 16 zones at a time.

with the classic, you can view only one zone? and you have to keep moving it down the sample? BASICALLY like in trim mode on the XL then edit>new sound?

so basically i would have a 2 bar loop, i would highlight the one zone, set a start and end point, then for my second chop put the start point where the end point previously was and then adjust the end point for the second chop?

im just tryin to see if im understanding correctly.

I own a 2000 and love it, but in this day and age do yourself a favour and get Recycle or an audio editor to create your slices.

i like soundforge for overall track mastering .. i love that option of loading a few effects and hearing them
before applying .. but i never used it for choping samples. i always used adobe audition for that ..(no particular reason except comfort level).. but i like recycle because of the ease of it mostly.
