well over 10k not including contruction of the recent lab. Its not that hard to spend that tho. You could easily pass that with a workstation, comp, monitors and other basics.


(On another note some of yall seem way too comfy disclosing everything you got in your crib and what you paid. Too many posts about cats getting their cribs broken into....)

For real. Sometimes when you have expensive stuff, you don't need to publicise the fact. Just hold it down and do your thing. There's a lot of VERY HUNGRY PEOPLE out there that would love to rob your shit and sell it for $10 a piece...

There is no 'I spent more than you' kudos because buying gear is an investment. Unless you get a decent rate of return (knowledge or financial) on your investment you are simply spending without any purposeful benefit.

When I think about all my purchases...Haven't spend that much as most of you guys, but this is kind of funny.My most expensive gear was......A brand new MPC500. Even my 1k was cheaper (totally maxed out). Spend a k on my pc with a decent monitor set this summer. And my last purchase arrived today, a s900 for 100 euro´s.

If you gonna build a home studio you HAVE to make sure you have adequate cover on your home insurance .... hehe, that along with a decent infra-red CCTV system and monitored alarm Too many people get a break-in only to find that theres either a limit to electrical/audio items covered under normal home insurance.

Fortunately, to be able to write off my expenditure on audio equipment against my taxes, I started up as a company, the Inland Revenue will be paying for most of my equipment over the next 2 years. Due to this I HAD to take out, a) public liability insurance and b) cover against theft, either in transit, storage, or home. Quite expensive, but again, its offset against the tax bill

Just being on a gear forum like this probably ear marks you as someone who owns a few bits of gear worth nicking. I agree with you ^^, it's another step to put an address to a poster

Anyone with the right knowledge and skills could trace the location of the computer you are using to browse the Internet. It's not exactly rocket science.

The 'authorities' already do this to identify serial downloaders, paedophiles and others they decide to target.

Would someone do this to track down your studio? Who knows.

Commercial studios will advertise their gear list to attract clients. For most 'home producers' it is more likely to attract unwanted attention.

Consider this for a moment:

Just suppose I live in your neighborhood, but I dont know you. I hear that you make beats. I put your name or alias into google. All your forum posts come up, including all the great shots you posted in 'Pic's of your cribs' and the gearlist/ values you posted in this thread. I already know where you live or can easily find out, so all I have to do is develop a plan to hit your spot. I dont care if you're in or not when I get there. Im hungry, Im prepared....
