After I saw it on youtube back in April, I been bustin my a** off to get one. I had gotten my first job at Best Buy by June 1st. Started Djing again like I used to, and around late July, just when I was about $200 shy from getting it, life found out I had money and started trowing all kinda bullsh** at me. All of a sudden I had to help with bills that were not even mine, I had to get my own car, fix it, I got kicked out of my house, get other people car fixed.
I had gotten to about 1500 TWICE! And both times I was knocked right back down to zero. boom. nothing.
But I got a dream and thats what kept me going, I kept findin my way to work everyday, doin my own lil hustles on the side, Djing, sellin reason beats, sellin burnt cds & dvds, designing websites, cuttin grass, whatever I had to do. Thats why yall may have saw me on here everyday (might not have been posting everyday but I been on) just keepin my hope strong, keepin my dream alive and... BOOM!
Dropped 1800 on it today at guitar center after work. Im gonna pay the other... $289.53 friday when it ships in from orlando. Good price huh! Yeah I aint just been lookin at the pictures all day, I been trying to figure how I can get the best deal possible. Finally came through. :D

Forget the manual....who reads those things.

Just jump right in and learn from doing. Use the manual as a last resort. Need some help..come in here and ask. The MPC 5000 community is small here. So you will not get many people telling you to RTFM. (at least I hope)

Yo man Congrats on getting your 5000. I am pretty much in the same boat trying to save up and get a 5k. Even with JB saying some negative ish about this machine I think it will still be a sick ass mpc. Hope to hear your bangers soon

Yea, i was following the JB rant on this forum. Its just the cost of buying such a new machine... i mean V1.1 come on! All that means is bugs. I know this thing is a monster so I inversted in it. I think its a well spent $2089 for me.
Yea im deffiently gonna post some of my stuff up, or at least put it on myspace and post up the link. I feel like this is the begining of the rest of my life... goin good so far.

P.S.: Payed up the last $289 today, going to pick it up tomorrow after work (its gonna be one hella slow day).

Well done on being so commited to this machine! I wish I could have been so eager to get it from when I first heard about it, but unfortunately life gets in the way, especially when it knows you're saving up for something nice!

Anyway, I think i'll just hold out for the Linndrum II now to see what that offers. A nice sampler feature set with real analogue synth will probably swing it for me over the 5K.

Don't mean to rain on your parade....but you may not see the Linn Drum for 1 to 2 years. And when it is finally released, I seriously doubt they will be massed produced. You will probably be on a waiting list for several months or more.
