Digi 002 Rack, Mpc2000xl and a Korg Triton Classic

Hey there,

my first post. Received my new/used Digidesign 002 rack version today, and I am almost ready to start. But before that I got some questions!

1: I have been using triton and mpc together for many years, and I am very used to the setup I have. I play the keys on the synth, and choose a program for drums, which I then use the pads on the mpc for. All sequencing has been done in the mpc. Now I want to sequence in Pro Tools (7.4, soon going to version . Is there a way for me to set this up, so I can play my keys on the synth, and use drums on the mpc?(Drums: Battery, and all similar programs/plugins)

Basically what I want is to use Pro tools as the main sequencer/all that, and still be able to work a little in the old way..

2: Is there a way to setup the mpc, so that when I press play/rec/stop/playstart buttons, that they will actually start/stop/record in pro tools?


I also would like to mention that I have a edirol UM-2 midi interface, 2in/2out midi, will I need this?

Edit: I do not wish to use the sounds on my triton, nor the mpc as there are a billion plug ins... Just midi everything

I thought I'd post this so you can see that most folks use a midi patchbay/router (second device from the top).
It takes the headaches out of distributing midi to where ever I need it to go.

There's nothing special about hooking up what you want. I use Nuendo as my master syncronizer and everything else slaves from that.

Oh before I forget, If you plan on using all vsti's, make sure you have a DAW that's capable of handling this.

Thank you for the tips, but for now I think I have enough equipment. Got it up and running mainly. Now all I gotta figure out is how to connect the mpc midi, so it will let me trigger i.e my battery drums from those pads.

Midi out from the MPC, to midi in on the 002.

I have the same setup and was curious...are there any upgrades for the 61 key classic floppy drive?? I'm sick of these puny 1.44MB diskettes.

Hey guys, noob to the site as i have never been able to purchase an mp myself, but i'm a recorded music student and interning as an audio engineer and i have an extremely frustrating question thats been giving me migranes trying to figure out the last two days at work. I've searched and asked for answers seemingly everywhere but nothing will work.
I am completely new to the MPC, but in the last two days have learned the basics (and now am itching for one more than ever), but i feel like this forum is the best place to start posting a reply because it looks like you already had this set up villa.

We have an 002 ProTools LE system, Korg Triton-Rack Sampler, Roland RS-5 controller, and an old MPC 2000.

Trying to:
-sync MPC2000 with ProTools (which i managed to figured out)
-get Triton-rack sounds on the MPC and Roland RS-5
-bring everything back into protools

any suggestions/helps/tips/anything is greatly appreciated!
