4000 RUNNING SLOW

What up peoples. I just got a 4000 today, and it loads slow as dirt. It seams tho it takes a couple min's to catchup to the buttons I push. Is this a regular thing with the 4000. I was told there were bugs in it, but that most were worked out. If any 1 has an idea could you please let me know. I have not found anything in the manual about the MPC4000 running behind when you try to load something. I was thinking maybe the HDD, or the MEM. Thanks.

Sounds like your 4000 has some hardware issues... i'd take it back to the retailer...

If you bought it used and cant' return it, I would remove the RAM and see if it runs as slow with the default 16M of memory.

Sonds like a memory issue to me....

Yes, it's not instantaneous if you're loading a well bundled program, if that's what you mean. Maybe see if you need to add or upgrade the memory as what was suggested. Plus make sure you have the latest O.S. installed as well (ver.1.71).

sounds like akai wanted to get you off the phone,(that's why we got our own customer reps 'round here) mine's load up no problem.when you start the machine do you have it set to load sample's on start up? also when I first got mine,I had to change my factory hard drive.since I did that I never had another problem with it.

Wrong. If it's taking a few seconds for the MPC to react when you press a button, THAT IS NOT NORMAL!!! Call that fu*ker up at AKAI and tell him that.

As suggested already, could be the RAM or HDD is causing some problems. Remove the RAM and see if the problem goes away.

If that don't work try disconnecting the HDD.

If the problem turns out to be your HDD drive you could try reformatting the drive or go out and get a new one.
