As far as I am concerned the best keyboard for original sounds is still the ASR 10. You can do sampling, subtractive synthesis, loop based rompler sounds, and wavetable synthesis with amazing options. No other sampler matches it period.
I kinda wish I had one, but I have 3 samplers and I don't need a fourth unless it's portable.
thats what i was sayin before, everybody thinks its just presets and effects, but its not, its more.....granted, you are probably right in the fact that the asr 10 is a better sampler, and has better filters, etc.
but on the triton: you can program it from scratch, layer shit.....use your samples in the oscilators if you want, not just as one shots. layer shit more than ive seen on any other synth-in combi mode. You can combine your samples with rom samples and crossfade them or whatever. You can add the moss board for subtractive synthesis. the moss board is the same synth engine as the ms2000(not just regurgitating facts) my friend has the moss board-Its got 2 arpegiators, you can edit all the arpegiator patterns.
But you are right, the effects is one of the best things on it, and makes the triton so easy.....but thats why i love it, cause i dont have to get into synthesis if i dont want to....i can just sample, and lay tons of effects-and resample some more. Or i can get deep with my samples and mess with lfo, filters, etc. I can also take presets and switch the rom osc. wave, and put mine in there. I can also copy effects from other presets to test out combinations i wouldnt think of.
peace
