Problem with Alesis Micron midi to MPC 1000

I have sucessfully connected the MPC 1000 and the Alesis Micron via midi but i am having a problem. I would like to record numerous tracks on the MPC from numerous programs in the Micron but when i change the program on the Micron the notes stay from the previous track but the sounds from the new program play. I would like to save the previous sounds on one track and new sounds on a new track without the previous ones changing when i change the sound program on the Micron. Can anyone help?

You have to make a custom setup on your Micron of the patches/programs you want to use simultaneously and which midi channels they will communicate with. That way you can have two or more programs playing at once.

Just selecting a program or doing a program change will not work with the Micron for what you are asking.

I had a Micron for about 2 months but didn't bother getting used to the interface nor did I like the custom setup stuff to get the thing into multitimbral mode. It sounded nice though and can do quite a bit. Respect to those who have the patience for that. Hope you can figure it out.

to make up for the small interface on the micron, there are now some really nice software patch editors available. i just downloaded this freeware editor for mac called MicronAU which not only lets you create patches in realtime from your computer screen, but also allows you to use the micron as a VSTi... this program is killer... i think i'm gonna donate some funds to the creator soon.

DAMN! I just sold my Micron around March because I've been waiting two years for a fully functioning editor for the Mac! I loved the sound, features and portability, but programming was a ****.

Now I have to decide if I want to buy another........ or wait for Micron Mk II? Should be anytime now I'd think. Anyone care to take a guess?

i don't think alesis will do a micron mkII... they're more likely to put out a whole new mini synth... maybe something more like a stripped-down andromeda? the micron did have a 2nd run of manufacturing though, mainly to replace the piece that holds the clear control knob in place... when they first came out, the piece was plastic and would easily break off [i'm sure you can find one on ebay with a broken control knob because of this]... they replaced that part with a metal one now and i think fixed some other issues as well.
