I just brought back to life my 60mk1!

Damn, it took me 5 months to find the problem but I did it! I fixed the god damn floppy drive and now I can rock my 60 at last! So, it's my turn to share some knowledge on this spot.

Anyway, for those who might experience problems with their 60's and 3000's I have a couple of tips:

-It's not always the cables or the parts. I thought mine was busted or the board was dead, but I found out that the 60 couldn't operate the drive correctly cause the power supply wasn't feeding correct power, so it powered up but fuk'd up when trying to load files. When I opened everything up, I found the floppy socket back on the power supply almost completely broken, so I just re-soldered it and everything was fine!

-So, before you end up selling your gear as busted, check also the power supply connections. These parts are really old and solderings tend to fall out the box, even though the busted part might seem to power up fine.

PS Damn, that 60 killed my 2kxl for the drums. Dead easy.

yeah man i got a serious floppy problem too and i think its a power supply problem too,cause all of the drives i tried were doing the right operations,but then the drive was **** around,mpc flipping on and off and drive makin funky noises than after an hour or minutes or whatever time its working again and **** up again,but the confusing thing is that i have an old drive which not fits the mpc,but it works,but when operating you can see that the the drive is sucking the power and the display gets dark for a short period,but its working and not turening off the mp
do you have pictures of the og Mitsubishi MF353C-62M jumper settings??i wanna make sure that it has nothing to do with jumpers before i start soldering again=:)

Just got a 60II. What's up with upgrading it to the 3000? Is it just a software upgrade? Would you recommend it?

MPC 4000, MPC 3000, MPC 60II, S3000xl, Fantom G6, Motif XS8, Triton Studio, E-mu MP-7, Proteus 2000, Motif ES Rack, Fantom X Rack, Novation A-Station, ASR-X, a pair of Technics SL1210's and a pair of Technics SL-DZ1200's.

It's on ROM Chips and it's a must for MPC60's!

...ahm, nope.

The current "3000 Software" for the MPC60 is Roger Linn Design's version.

Mine ? 3000 only at this stage.

For 60 users ? Watch what the new year brings.

Lol, I know who did the 3.10 for the 60. It's just that some people think that by upgrading their OS chips they can turn their 60's into 3000 (which however, software wize is actually true, except maybe some features).

Anyhow, what's with the new year Rohan, you're cooking something for us?

Likely ...

Either the "last AKAI branded and considerably rare version" which would be 2.14 and have limited support for SCSI storage devices.

Or more probably ...

Assuming it had SCSI, why didn't you just get a ZIP or CF drive?
