MPC 2500 versus 4000 which is better

I am new to MPC's in general. I am looking to buy one soon. Now prices have come down on used 4000 they are about the same price as the used 2500 at about $800 to $900. Which should I buy. I sing, play some acoustic guitar over a R&B funk beats, sort of Indie style. Anyone familiar with pluses and minuses of both.

The 4000 is alot more complicated and intricate the the 2500 and a larger learning curve if youve never used MPcs. Much better at intricate editing etc,, But the 2500 will get you off and running earlier and has power to make alot of good tunes

if you don't consider yourself a computer guy when it comes to music - perhaps consider the 2500

MPC 4000 = Full fledged sampler, higher sequencer resolution, 24 bit sampling.

I would never go with the 2500 over the 4000 when the price would be the same but in the end it`s all a matter of taste.

If what you guys are saying is that the 4000 is better just a bit harder to get used to, then shouldn't I just plan on getting down to the nitty gritty of learning to operate the 4000 and in the end I will have a better machine. What about the new features of the 2500. I mean technology matures very quickly. The 4000's are about 5 or 6 years old now. But the 2500 are only a couple of years old. Wouldn't I be ahead as far as technological advances are concerned with the 2500??????? You guys are good but give me some more.......

There's nothing really new on the 2500 that the 4k doesn't already have. And if having an extra card reader or something like that is important, then it can be added to the 4k as well.

Thanks dabmeister. I checked out your site. Looks like I could learn a lot from you. The music is very good too, just my style. not too gimicky like some of the hip hop stuff but more like some smooth jazz grooves. I like it. Keep up the good work. I would like to know what your set up is and what software you use. Thanks again.

I appreciate the look. Yeah unlike most, I very rarely sample. The tunes you heard were real musical compositions done both by myself & my writing team. I do have some experience when it comes to bands, performing live and recording. It got started for me in the mid 70's when I started to learn how to play sax in the 6th grade. So I hold not only experience in this thang, but some history too.

Nevertheless, you seem to be a member of the mature crowd if I'm not mistaken. Hit me up every now and then (since I'm not here 24/7) when you have a question & I'll be glad to help. Plus, there's a couple of other katz on here like myself, but we're few and far between.

4000 is the machine still, but imma kool wit tha 25k..... reallly does wonders still...
