Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

I'm running xp64 and I can't seem to get aksys to work. When I plug in, windows recognizes the mpc 4k, but
never installs the driver correctly. I also have an install of 32 running that doesn't seem to work with my mpc.
Same situation.

I've tried uninstalling, doing a fresh install, etc. any insight?

I'm running mpc 4k os 1.71 and trying aksys 2.53.
Should I reinstall mpc os? Is this necessary?

Your MPC os should be fine. The problem is that the aksys doesn't run on 64bit, only up to 32. And in some cases it crashes after 15-20 minutes on 32bit.

I wonder if your machine is responsible (ie: incompatible chipset or something).

In this case, any 64 bit o.s. is a bad thing.

Yeah, maybe you're right. Chipset may be to blame. I thought getting a 64 bit dual core would be
awesome. Not the case. That's why I run a 32 bit and 64 bit xp install. But even so, my processor
is probably to blame.

Which processor are you running...Intel or AMD? I use a 64 bit capable dual core Intel with an Intel P965 chipset myself, but it's on 32 bit Win XP o.s.

It works EXCELLENT for me. :D
