12 levels MIDI output?

Yo guys, i'm trying to use my DAW to trigger the 500, but i'm having a problem. Is it possible in any way to use the 12 levels function from an external sequencer? It seems if I mirror the MIDI out through my pc then it loses the tune value. Am I missing something or is this an incredibly annoying Akai oversight/limitation?

I experienced the same problem with my 1k/s900 today. I can turn on the 16levels velocity, but no 16 level tune. I think this is an Akai thing.

Bollocks. I was going to make a little magic box to sit on the MIDI cable between a master keyboard and the MPC to convert MIDI note messages to the Akai tune messages, but in that case it doesn't appear possible.

Anyone using midi-ox ? is there any message coming out ? Cant confirm as im at work... On the otherhand, tune is not transpose right ? Its just an OS command, not midi.

Im just looking at the event list in a recorded trackl. I havent looked at it the next level down. I was under the impression it was possible to track through an external sequencer, but obviously I was mistaken (or people do it and sacrifice 12 levels of tune).

i would love to test this but i have my mpc2000xl on location, does anyone know how the os handles this as it starting to look like a native parameter, not midi, sysex or nrpn but OS defined. I also meant bome's translator, it should read out the midi in messages of any kind.
