Programs

I'm wondering: When you download samples like drum hits and such. Do you guys make programs and map them out on the pads?

I just downloaded the samples posted in the off topic area and I was wondering if I should make programs for the kicks, hats, and snares etc.?

Help me out please?

i do a few things. i have kits that are just kicks, snares, toms, hats and such. but i also have kits like 707, 808, 909. custom kits that i chopped up from a song i just label as the artist of the song.

Some people work like that y'know. Having a program with all your snares, one with all ur kicks, etc. Some also have template programs of their dopest drumkits.

I don't like to work like that. I even got that many drumsounds. I like to layer stuff. I use 4 snares to make 1 snare for example. And for every song I use another type of combination, tuned and filtered different on every singel beat I do. It's more timeconsuming this way, but it really forces me to focus completely on the drums.

^ i can dig it son, i rarely use the same drums for each trak, not saying thats wrong if you do that but it just keeps it more interesting switchin up the drum sounds. layering is a big plus, you can use the same sounds but make them sound differnt this way you diG?@?@?@
