CD TEAC HELP

Coming from a 1000; you're no doubt gonna feel right at home on the 2500 - tilt screen, full size pads and CD/DVD Drive just make it feel really fast and comfortable to work with (i've got 1000 and 2500).

Was looking at the MPC5000, but unless JJ comes up with an OS for that one, I'll hold off. Akai sure as sh;t ain't gonna fix that bug list anytime soon, and even if they did, the OS still won't be up to JJ's standard.

i was looking at the CDM-25 install video on mpcstuff.com and it shows that the CDM-25 comes with a screw that fits in the bottom of it when the drive is in place, i assume that this is to hold it in place.

whats the TEAC DW224E like when its fitted? as this dosn't screw in to place i can only imagine it might me quite easy just to pull it out. has anybody expierienced this?

It's a snug fit and I also used self-adhesive foam pads on each side of the drive. When the drive is then pushed in, the foam pads wedge it in tight at the front of the chassis and the drive connecter holds it securely at the back to.

I had to remove the old drive when I fitted the BP3 model and it was tough to get back out again

I'm not sure if VST or MPCstuff sell just the CD fixing kit (i.e. bracket and screw).

My 2500 never leaves my studio, so i'm not too concerned about it getting dropped etc. so no worries for me!

Hi everyone

I have had my 2500 for a week or so.

got suckered with the akai memory - though i did get a deal - but still

keen not to go same way on harddrive and cd.

i've taken the front off my 2500 to have a look in preperation for when cd arrives.

how do i connect it. there is no ribbon or anything. similarly the harddrive just has pins. but the cd doesnt even seem to have that, so how do i plug it in for power etc. do i have to dismantle the whole thing? or is it all doable from the front.

sorry, i have read a fair whack of this thread, but between this and the memory one, it is a lot!

ok, so got the cd unit.

took off the PCB adaptor, and it fits in perfect. it powers up - and spins the cd.

however when i go to record, it doesnt show up as a potential input.

id really appreciate some help here guys..

well, slightly underwhelmed by the response over the last few days.

still. ive got it working.

my unit would not work with pin 47 activated, regardless of whether the harddrive is in or not.

anyways, i now have a hd and cd-rom. im happy, def worth trying if you wanna save some cash...

installed now, all perfect

just a question: can 2500 with dvd read old akai format cd?
i don't have here to try, just curious

im sure there is a convert program available for a pc to do it, but you lose a lot of the parameters...

is pin 47 one over from the left? or 3 over? the first 2 pins are longer than the others correct? is it the second longer pin or the second smaller pin? pls excuse my ignorance but don't want to phoq up my drive. maybe i'm talking about the gold connector and not the pin. pin is silver or gold? thx

This shows you what has to be done. There is a pin missing, the unit showing the right way up. I wiggled it around until it came off (as somebody else did on here) then pushed the small bit that was still sticking out. It's small, but fairly easy.

Before you do so, install it and see if you can do without first. Some models are already in slave mode from the factory. You only need to do this mod if you are using a hard disk.

wicked thx. is it only the top connector that needs to come off? or the bottom too?
also, are you saying it's possible that the drive will just work even if i have a hard drive installed depending on factory settings? or will i always have to remove the pin if an hd is installed? sorry for all the questions and thx for your support

just put int the drive and i can see the cd's and load shit. didn't touch pin 47. i do have an hd installed too. am i missing something or am i just lucky? is it the burning that won't work? don't even know how to burn yet???

It's only the top pin. As I said, give it a try before you remove the pin, you've got nothing to lose (but back up your HD before you do anything at all. Always back up your HD. Always!).
