anyone have the same problem with time strech

whats up everyone.

just checkin in to see if anybody has a similar problem. sometimes when i got a sample and i feel its too fast ill time stretch it. not too much. lets say from 100bpm to 90. nothin too drastic. anyway when i play back my samples they sound fuzzy. not terrible. but noticeably different from the original.

just want to see if anyone has run into the same problem, if its something i can fix, or something i gotta live with

yea thats just a downside of time stretching, it makes the sample come out all retarded and mechanical. but if you only need to go from 100 to 90 why not just pitch it down till its at 90?

i find that making small changes in tempo and repeating 5-10 times has a better outcome than timestretching the whole sample in1 shot.
play around with it.

I get better results in Pro tools or using a CDJ then the MPC. For the most part the MPC will do but something like -10 BPM wont be done on the 1000

we all hear so many original samples, then hear how tweaked they are in hip hop. but it always sounds pretty on point.

yeah^^... CDJ is a good way to go, cuz it can load from memory card. another route, if you use vinyl and want to change time but not pitch is to use a turntable with "quartz lock" like the numark TTX. I like that feature, it locks pitch in place while you can freely adjust playback speed. it still sounds natural for small changes, like up to 10%. plus the thing has a digital out, no need for phono preamps.

how bout with pitch shift? same deal. it gets super fuzzy no matter how little i change it. even just a half step and the new sample sounds terrible. whats the deal?
