Pad Questions

I have been breezing through this site trying to educate myself on MPC's and I have narrowed it down to the mpc 1000 or 2500. I am just hung up on 2 things I can't really find info on.

1.The mpc 1000 seems to be just as capable as the 2500 as long as it has the jjos installed but I hear alot of gripes about the mpc1000's pads. As I am going to likely buy a new 1000 instead of used one, has AKAI fixed the pads, or are they still a big problem?

2.Also besides the screen and added I/O's is there any reason to favor the 2500? If the jjos basically gives them the same feature set, just kind of curious what makes it better for the extra money.

Money is tight right now and I would really like to buy the RIGHT MPC any help you guys can give me is awesome.

IMO they'll both get the job done. If you cop the 1000 and dont like it, upgrade.

Its looking like the 1000 for the most part but I just wanted to know about the pads. I am not a do it yourself person with electronics by any stretch and it seems a ton of people have had to replace their pads which sounds like a pain in the ass. I am just wondering if AKAI has fixed the pads on the 1000 in newer models or if they are still a problem.

2.Also curious if you install jjos will it void your warranty if you try to exchange the mpc later?

Just reinstall the old AKAI OS.

A simple google search and I found this. Looks like Akai fixed them but screwed the first generation mpc 1000 owners thanks for the help guys I think I will go with the 1000, can't see a big reason for the 25000. Thanks for the help people I mean it

wow..well, my view on akai has changed quite a bit.
I mean not only are the pads faulty on the 1000 (or were), but it seems apparent to me now after hours of reading on this forum that all MPC's pads regardless of make or model are GUARANTEED to die on you SOON OR LATER(like mine did just yesterday).
What kinda b*llshit is akai running on us?
Ive been using korg products as well, paid less for those machines and theyve been 100% dependable and have never broken down or needed major repairs like most of these MPC's.

Strings on a guitar need to be replaced as well.

well, ive owned some roland products and some korg products...10 years later and i havent had one problem with any of their stuff. No faulty pads, no malfunctioning buttons. Sure you have to change strings on a guitar, but the MPC isnt a guitar.
Its obvious that akai will put out a product that they know will fail eventually, to get their customers to come back to them to buy their expensive replacement parts.

This thing is hard to comparise, cuz I don't know how and how much u use ur gear.

Also wanted to note that I have a s900, built in 86. Still sitting on my desk. It's built like a tank.
So not everything akai released was crap.

Eventhough I also lost my trust in Akai because of the 1k pad scandal, (my 1k is barely 1year old, but pads are already dying) I still love them and the mpc for what the mpc does. It gives me a powerful workstation that inspires me to keep making beats. I can workout ideas so fast on it. Like it's a piece of my mind. Even my whole mp dies before the end of the year, I will still buy a new one.

wow, i wish could just up an buy another thousand dollar MPC....
Whatever though, i personally wouldnt drop cash on another MPC product until theyve rid their machines of all the kinks, thats probably just a wish unheard though.

dog, its foolish to throw cash at a company who with all due respect doesnt take into consideration its customers desire for products that dont BREAKDOWN on you.
Is that too much to ask?

Im simply voicing my rage for lackluster companies like this particular one, who get way more dap than they deserve!

Don't worry man. A few months ago I also tripped out about akai on this forum. but the mpc is just my machine. It's like a mariage. Mpc is my wive and akai is my family in law. I decided to stick with the mp, so also have to accept that my family in law doesn't show me a lot of love. I just stopped bothering and accepted the situation. I'm mentally prepared for anything to happen to my mpc. So I saved some money for when it crashes. It's f*cked up how a lot of companys treat their customers. But that's just life I guess. Can't really change anything about it, so that's why I can't really care about it no more.

Er, hang on a moment … are you all forgeting sellers obligations under the Sale of Goods Act/Legislation - u know, where a product must be ‘fit for purpose’ and of ‘merchantable quality’. These are not just talk but legal requirements placed on the sellers of consumer products. If you ask me, Akai, thus far have been very succesful in ducking any legal accountablity for putting out MPC1000 with obvious and serious design flaws that leave the product in breach of statutory requirements. Someone needs to take their arse to court and sue the bas.ards - then you will see how quickly they change their approach !!

I just can't believe that nobody else here has even lookesd at this basic legal fact that Akai are dodging ?
