Acoustic drums sounds vs. Sampled Drum sounds

everybody talks about drum-library and stuff.. and.. humm.. am i the only producer who doesn't organize my samples and drums at all? i sample it when i use it, and after the beat is finished i record it(and after a while delete it from the original diskett).. hmmm

i sample all my drum sounds from wax. its has a thicker dirty sound to it.

Nope, I make Programs on my MPC and other samplers, each mpc program has about 16 kicks, 16 snares, 16 hi hats. I make a bunch of beats, develop and record the ones I like, then sample some more.

I save all my Programs, but I don't have folders of just kicks, just snares, etc.

**** that bullshit I love good samples cd's call it lazy if you wan but ain't nobody gonna program their drums like I do plus you can always edit those sounds of the sample CD's and mix and match, matter fact when my money get's right I'ma check out the sample cd's on this site

I get all my drums from wax. I got alot of ill breaks....brethren drums, lil richards the rill thing, power of zeus, and a gang of other ill breaks. I also got a whole crate full of records with open drums all over them. Kicks, snares, hats...the whole nine(drums that alot of people probably aren't even up on.) I try to stay away from acoustic drums. If i wanted to use those, i would have bought a drum set instead of sampler. There's something about choppin up a break and layin it down your own way. I guess its cool to use preset sounds and keyboards, cuz i used to use those too but that sound doesnt work for me. I dig that classic shit. You aint gonna find that boom-bap in a keyboard/computer/cd. Yall know the deal!!!

And what are you talkin about Skiggy... You CAN mix and match.. Oh my God cause that's so impossible with sampled drums... It's just as easy to mix and match with sampled drums... It also is impossible to edit sampled drums like you can with Acoustic Drums... It's not like I'm using the same frequency filters on the same drum machine as you...

exactly, i mix and match sampled drums, or anything off my keyboards, and sample cds. Like taking a break and using a differant snare. or kick or something.

How do I organize my samples? I don't... I got one zip of just drum hits and tiny stabs and sounds, one zip of sequences and incomplete beats/samples/sounds, and one zip of vocal samples, skits, movie snippets. Then I got one zip for finished beats, and the beats that I'm trying to shop to artists are on my external scsi hard drive. No files/folders/etc. They arent' organized in files or folders, but on separate zip disks. If this sounds organized to you, try cycling thru 85mb of kicks and snares to find that snare you named but forgot where it's from but had that dirty feel that you need for this track you're working on... but I don't mind the time it takes, since I make beats in the late night/early am when everyone's sleeping and I take my time with it.
