They are lcd screens. Old tech, but still LCD. You may be confusing with old ensoniq type flouro screens.

You can't properly enjoy that "sound" if the screen is burned out and you can't work properly.

It's already old, so more care should be taken.

Why some people do that I will never know.

I agree .. the MPC is not tube driven to my knowledge .. so there is no warming up of the equipment
for a richer sound .. i would suggest as lamp .. to power down the machine when not in use ..
it saves the screen/internal components as well as your electrical bill.

The LCD Screen in this regard can run in two modes.

TEXT or GRAPHIC.

TEXT mode for most MPC60 operations.

GRAPHIC MODE for the MIXER SCREEN.

question 1 - how many hours of an mpc 2kxl would you estimate it take for the screen to start getting lines and screwing up ?

in regards to warming up the mpc that reminds me of my uncle who is an old school rocker, when i got my tube microphone for vocals he told me to leave it on over night. i never did it , i asked at the music store and the dude said 'nah all it needs is 3-5 minutes to warm up'

I don't know because it's best to just save your projects and turn off your gear.
8 years later and no burnt out backlights, no lines on my screen... WHY??? Because I turn my sh!t off.
