Just installed Ram...now what

I want 2 know if I installed the 32mb ram on my 2K...how do i check to see how much ram I have now

Go to sample window and then highlight the Secs. and hit Open Window

ok thnx...I guess I dit it wrong becuz it still says only 2mb

check the manual also, the memory thing is in there.

Maybe it's not seated right.

maybe it's the wrong ram.

maybe the ram is bad.

2mb is default on the motherboard when no ram is present in the slots.

I dont know whats wrong man, I slipped both of them in to place and they bot snaped right into place. i just got the 32 mb form MPC stuff today so I know they r good

SO is there nothing special that I have 2 do after installing the 32 mg expansion. I just boot it up and go to sample and open a new window to check

Im really buging out about this damn 32 mb expansion. Once I installed it for like the 5th time, I booted the 2K up and it said I had 0mb, then I took out the 32mb chips and boot it back up and I had 2 mb. How can I tell if I got the right ships through MPC Stuff. ( I called them up but they only take voicemails)

Are making sure the RAM sticks are locked into place when you insert them?

Yep I know I installed them right because they do slightly lean out befor u lock them inot place, MPC stuff told me its really unlikely that both chips are bad and I already installed just 1 to see if it would work but nothing so i dont know what to do

Send it back to them for a replacement or refund. They should test their products before shipping them out and have some sort of guarantee for the products the sell.

yeah i did got I credit for it. would have prefered a refund!

but gotta say the mpcstuff dude is pretty cool and good service, but nothing worse than getting a mcd drive that didnt get recognised.

Yea this shits been pretty frustrating man, Im gonna send those Ram chips back and retun my MPC 2000 to Guitar Center because I didnt realize how much work it needs. Hey on mpcstuf.com, they have used MPC 2000, do you think that there a good deal, because they all have everything brand new replace and I really just want a 2000 that works. Im in Chicago and I contacted 5 different people on craigslist and they eithr sold it right away or never got back 2 me

Try wiping the leads of the RAM sticks with some alcohol based product, I mean clean the pins, it worked for me.
I got my MPC with RAM maxed out but it did not work , when i wiped the sticks it worked instantly. I tried with different RAM sticks, none of them initially worked but after the cleaning all of them did.
