Sub-forum for discussion about the DAWs and mobile apps that you use with your MPCs

This thread has nothing to do with Pro Tools. I can only suggest that you do a search for 'Sync + Pro Tools'. The answers are somewhere around here if you look properly. There are many PT users here on the forums.

i tried this.. and yes i get the response on the different midi channels, but some kind of way it dosent stay separate, what am i doing wrong? also i get only 15 tracks, and when i add audio tracks it changes the info on the mix window. im confussed with step 5 mirroring the mix window with the arrange window (software sorting) what are the actual steps? please help.... i dont know logic at all.. first timer :D

Ok, first up the tutorial focused on the midi side of things only to keep thing simple. If you add audio tracks to the arrange page, they will also appear in the mixer as expected.

Im not sure what you mean by "it doesn't stay seperate", maybe you can elaborate a little?

The tutorial wasn't intended for absolute newbies and was based upon certain assumptions. The method works if you DO EXACTLY AS I STATED.

Welcome to the forums jeff!

yo thanks for the reply and the welcome, im glad to be here!!!! you guys got a lot of GREAT INFO!!!. i think my problem may have been the steps to mirror the mixer and the arrange page. i had it working but when i added audio tracks so that i could hear the mpc metronome, all my track and instument numbers changed. also there are two places on the mixer channel that shows intsrument number these were only consistant up to about 6 or 7. can you elaborate on the steps to mirror the mixer? sorry man im more like logic for dummies lol!!! :D

hey Clint. This may not be tha right forum for this, but in ur experience why would my 2500 with 128mb rearrange My sample data from the original way performed or even not all. The samples are not to long i'm not stressing the ram. I started to believe I had a corrupt flash card which also just deleted about 15 songs one day. So I switched it out and is just watching now. I hope it's not an internal problem. And just in case I'm running the latest os.

Jeff, sounds like you got it working so far as the steps I posted in the tutorial. Adding audio tracks to the arrange page is a pretty basic task and shouldn't really present any major problems.

So if you are going to modify or exand upon the tutorial, which was midi-focused, you may need to tweak things a little until you get things the way you want.

The most important thing really, is to know your DAW inside out so that you can solve problems instinctively.

Tutorial Assumptions:

1. You are able to input midi to your MPC using a keyboard and/ or the pads.
2. You are able to monitor the output of the MPC and Logic together.
3. You know the basics of navigating both the MPC and Logic.
4. The midi out of the MPC is routed into and being received by Logic.

Be patient and just play with the set-up for a while, you'll soon get things running the way you want. There isn't much I can add that hasn't already been covered in this thread.

Good luck!

Hey Clint..i see youre on right now, this is the logic for dummies again lol!!! hey man im still having a problem, i can trigger through all the 15 midi channels but say after i record a sequence on the mpc, when i change the channel on the mixer in logic the sequence plays on the channel that i change to, as a matter of fact it will play on any of the 15 that i switch to, what dont i have set up correct? i cant figure out the steps to mirror i use the arrange and instr and i have the demix checked in the record field HELP!!!!

It's 3:22 am here in London. I'll check this out later Jeff, but you must be doing something wrong. Are you sure 'Auto Demix By Channel' is on?

yeah its on.. hey man sorry to be such a nuisance.. im coming from straight hardware with the mpc, and just recording in protools. i can get the mpc to respond on seperate midi channels with logic when i go to channel 1 on the mpc and hit the pads it shows up on channel strip and the arrange page on 1 and so on..(1-15) but after i record a sequence thats when it dosent seem to be separated when i hit play on the mpc even though i recored on midi channel 1 or 2 etc.. it will trigger the sounds in logic on any channel i change to ...I'll wait to hear from ya THANKS MAN!!!!!

When you say "after I record a sequence" are you referring to recording your sequence on the MPC, or recording the MPC midi output into Logic?
