Help me out with this, question mainly for DJs

yo I just went diggin today and i got a couple records that are like the original cover of the albums exept some are all green and some are purple, but the main art work is the same as the original album (ive seen them online before ive bought them.) for example, i have marvin gaye 'i want you'. it has the cartoon people on it dancing but everyhting is purple. on the record (the label) it says at the top FULL FREQUENCY RANGE RECORDING and is on a silver label but the label doesnt seem to have a name. im pretty sure its not the original label. Im just wondering is the album the same as the real thing or do I need to pick up another copy when I see it? Oh and this is a ? mainly for DJs becuz i bought them off a DJ.

Are you talking about a difference in color of the fonts? I have seen originals with different color on the LP. An Lp that I own that come to mind is Run-DMC "Back From Hell". One has a font color of lime green, and the other one is light blue.

That's definitely NOT an original. However it's hard to determine what it is that you have from your description. Because that record cover IS Purple (burgundy-ish) already. Is it possible these are foreign pressings? Japanese maybe? What label is it on? Does it have a date with a © with a date next to it? If so what date does it say? And next to that do you see a similar symbol but with a letter "P" instead? If so what year? Check that out and if possible post the serial number or a pic and I'm sure we can point you in the right direction because I'm personally curious as well to find out it's origins.
I personally don't see a reason for you to try and get the OG, it's not like we're talkin about something rare. That's an extremely common record. In fact it probably has better sound that the OG so just rock that one instead.

its not only the font, its like if someone took purple glass and put it over the album (obvisouly there is not glass over my album it is still paper/watever the hell theyre made of, but it is thinner than an average record, almost like them semi-hard white sleeves that usually have hip hop records in them.)

ill give yall another example, i have bill withers - menagerie but it is all green. I saw the same record from another vendor that same day but after i already copped the joint i had. it looks as if someone put green plexiglass over the whole record but thats not literally, just what it looks like. imagine viewing the record in black and white exept its green and white. on the back it says copyright 1977.

It MIGHT be the overseas pressing suggestion becuz on the marvin joint, it has a japenese stamp looking thing (its literally a sticker like i could pull it off, its hangin half way on) right on the label of the record. but as to what label is on these records theres no telling, ive never seen this label before in my life, no words that say way it is, but it does have tiny ass hearts all the way around the border of the label. I wish I could take a pic but I dont have a camera.

Concerning that Marvin Gaye LP I'm pretty sure it's a foreign pressing. If you see Japanese inscriptions than I wouldn't look any further(although it shoul say on the bottom of the back of the LP "Made in Japan" or something like that. Concerning the other records, there's a possiblity this guy you bought them from added this kind of colored plastic wrap(similar to a shrink wrap) to protect the covers. In fact, you might be able to remove it entirely. If you post a pic I can tell you in a second.

yo man i might be able to post a pic but it could take up to a week. but naw son this is no plastic wrap, the paper was deffinatly printed like this. and yea it deff seems like a bootleg. i really dont even care what it is all i need to know is does it have the same songs as the original??

I find it strange that someone out there would bootleg some common ass records like that. I'd still like to see the covers if eventually you get around to posting them.

http://www.discogs.com/release/501569 it looks like that exept see how that looks like a label, the album cover is like that, exept not with the red hue in the purple, its more of a grape color. Ill just wait till I can post pics. Ill ask my aunt sometime this week if i can borrow her camera.

you said it says "FULL FREQUENCY RANGE RECORDING". if it's what i'm thinking it that this is a master recording FULL FREQUENCY RANGE RECORDING this is worth sme money any of these records that you see with that are worth top dollar, they didnt make alot of them but when you find one hold on to it cause it's worth cash.

i'm not exactly sure what yuor talking about it being purple, but if you can post a pic or the cover and the record i could tell you some more about it.

naw ede the vinyl is not colored. the label is light brown, with no words on it exept FULL FREQUENCY RANGE RECORDING on the top. well i mean theres words also like Stereo and the track names. the vinyl sleeve is colored, not the actual vinyl, the vinyl is black like majority of others. damn i wish i could give yall a pic. give me a week or 2.
