Purchase old 2000XL or newer MPC1000/2500

Dear all ...

I have decided to put my very newly aquired MPD32 up for sale ( just did not functiomn tightly with Cubase SX3 at all, despite trying all manner of things and tricks ).

So, I have been looking about at the MPCs and have come across the following :

An MPC 2000XL for £400 sterling. Should I go for this or would I be better spending an extra £100 to buy the MPC1000 ?

The main considerations for me is that the MPC will have to intergrate into my computer setup seemlessly. I run Cubase SX3 on an Intel Core 2 Duo system. My sound card is still the older, but trusty, Audiophile 2496.
I guess what I am satying here is will the 2000XL be easier and better at integrating than the more expensive 1000/2500 ?

Any advice on set up would be appreciated also ??

Oh, and my MPC will largely just be for the crating of drum beats only .... then synced to Cubase SX3 afterwards ?

My personal advice to you would be to learn the ins & outs of what it is you want. That's the reason Lamp suggested going with something other than the 2kxl, because it's the oldest of the group you mentioned. It won't allow you to INTERGRATE itself the way the 1k & 2500 will.

The best advice is for you to form your own opinion on what features fit best for your setup. I too am a loyal fan of Steinberg s/w and enjoy the simplicity of using the 4k within my setup. Both the 1k & 2500 offer USB connectivity off the bat...you do the math.

MPC1000, it is then ....

Basically, I WANT to be able to USE the NOTE REPEAT and TAP TEMPO in the way that I am sup to able to use the darn things .... with the MPD, even when set as master, it still does not transmit in the correct way. An MPC should not have the same probs at all - if it is sending, then IT IS sending ...

because they have more features and new features also better software, quicker load times, and u can even put hard drives in them like 80 gigs and they connect to pc with usb.

However in my humble opinion i would never choose a 1000 over an xl, instead I would save more money and buy a 2500 second hand. (just a size thing, personal preference, etc) I would never buy a new 2500 cos of the price, however im sure many other people aren;t as constrined financially as myself (im already 1,000 in debt for my latest purchases)

I have a 2k, but i want a 500. And if i had a 500 i sure in the hell wouldnt be using my 2k.

Ive never felt as if ive been kicked in the balls any harder.
Features wise all the new MPC's kill the older MPC's

Come on man do u have to rub it in! i was just forgetting that feeling LOL.

does a 2500 come with 8 outs and an efx board/unit as standard? if so that would be an even bigger kick in the nuts.

ps - i would never fvck with a 500 or 1000, i would go for that beautiful creation of mankind 'THE 2500'!!!!!!

knowing that pete rock still uses the 2000xl makes me feel a little better LOL. gotta say though i friggin love my xl never wanna part with it, but the newer equipment has better features.

just kidding...A whack producer on a 2kxl will still be a crappy one with a 500.
