MPC as main sequencer with softsynth's

I want to use my MPC as my main sequencer, but I want to be able to load drum samples off the computer and also to control soft synths on the computer. What do I need for this setup?

first of all SinisterWRX what software are you useing,what sound card do you have. If you have software like nuendo, click on the link above.What you want to do is not in any manual or tutorial that I know of.
elmacaco sometimes it would help to give something more than just hints yaknow.. Im not trying to be a smart ass or anything but just saying "MIDICABLES" dont really help any.


I have my MPC sync with nuendo 2 and I use all my software samplers with my MPC2Kxk with out a problem.

Sinister, in the mpc manual it explains to you how to sync up your mpc as a master or slave. in chapter 12 page 178. I use my MPC as a slave and nuendo as the master and I have them synced up with midi clock .

SOrry if I offended anyone but it just burns me up when all I see are hints givin to others. I know what it like to feel lost, I try to be as helpfull as I can... aslo sin, you can do a search on this topic and find more stuff related to this.

He's got a point. playing more than one softsynth with cubase sx or nuendo using the mpc is not that simple.
It took me 4 weeks to figure out that transform trick myself.

He asked what he needed, I said midicables. If that's not the answer, i'm not sure what is. Now if he said what he needed to do, that's a different story.

I have little patience for people who just want to get the answers without doing any research on their own. There is a newbie attitude that some of them have, of, tell me what to do, without wanting to learn anything about their equipment. This is detrimental in the long and short run.

"I bought a triton, how do I make it work with the MPC?" is a question that shouldn't pop up at all, as soon as you get your mpc you should know the manual is a good resource. People can't be lazy about this if they get in over their heads. That is why we have become the general clearing house for hook up info, cats start asking about just protools or otsssssher software that has nothing to do with the MPC. I can't tell you how many times I was about to post some cool shit, but by the time I get through all the bullshit newbie questions, I am out o time to contribute anything besides simple answers to stupid questions.

We also have newbies who are self starters, who do their research but are missing a small bit of information. I find them very refreshing and it is a pleasure to help them out, because I know they will get it in a big aha moment when they see the answer. The others are like robots taking orders, it is not my responsibility to provide their directives.

Giving the answers easily actually provides them a disservice, denying them the opportunity to understand their equipment and the means with which to solve their future problems.

I have problems like the rest of you, but I hunt down what I need to know, and if I need something from experience, I'll ask, and that will go a long way for me.

The flood of newbies on this forum is a blessing and a curse, it has forced many knowledgable people to stop coming here or stop posting altogether.

You don't know how many times I have thought, shit, I'm just gonna check the 60/3000 forum and off topic from now on because of the amount of dross that floods everything. That is why I like the dedicated newbie forum, and I want quizes to lock people from posting on the other forums.

We are experiencing major brain drain on this forum, and that weakens it as a resource.

I mean, great, we have 60 people who can help a guy hook up a zip drive.

How many people do we have that know the code structure of a PGM file? or how to replace a worn tact switch, or a backlight? OR who have rebuilt the power supply? We have troubleshooting experts here, and I for one would lke to keep them and myself interested.

If we help every newbie that strolls in, and these people come by less and less or not at all, you will feel it when YOU need them. Personally, I'd like to make this forum newbie friendly and enticing to experts, otherwise the value of this forum plumets. That is why I make it hard for the newbies that aren't self starters, sometimes you have to jostle them. How much research did homie do after I said midicables? did he turn to his manuals? he could have learned a lot.

Necessity is the mother of invention, we need that here and in ourselves.

elmacaco, I'm with you on that one....RTFM!!! (No offense) But instead of trying to create a hit when you first get your MPC, try studying your manual and learn more about MIDI. Trust me, it'll make you a better beat maker and hopefully producer...Remember, a 1,000 mile journey starts with one step.
