MPC - switching to new pads

I'm just purchased an MPC 1000, this is my 1st piece of beat making hardware... and I'm experiencing problems with the sensitivity of my pads. How many of you have experienced issues with your pads? and is switching to the new pads worth it? how much a difference does it make?

it's about a $200 difference. I'm figuring that since the 1000 cost only $900.00 the catch is that it's not worth the money so you eventually end up paying 1100 for the damn machine.

I'll work with my **** up Pads for now. I bought it off of Ebay for about $650 and thought nothing about the sensitivity(I even thought that the sensitivity could be adjusted) until I started reading about it over here

I've yet to find out what the switch is like, but if it's anything like the current ones, why bother....

Although I've only had the machine for about 1 or 2 months, it feels uncomfortable whenever working with these pads. I don't know how the other models' pads feel but I think I might look into getting the upgrade, because I don't wanna be limited to using messed up pads when I know the machine is capable of so much, when working correctly.

its definitly worth it. i just upgraded a couple of months ago after 2 years of the old pads. i think it sucks that you have to pay for the upgrade, but you can either hate akai and use the bad pads, or get over it and get the upgrade and enjoy your machine again.

if you have the money, order the pads. they are easy to install and will improve your tracks because you wont have to worry about whether or not to put a sample on that bad pad(s) or not. all pads will be functional and pretty much worry free.

I've been hearing that the BK or BK-N models have the new pads, is this true? Because I actually have a BK model but some of the pads feel kinda weird...I tried increasing the sensitivity of them (MODE>OTHER>PADS) and it has helped out a little bit, but I still feel like the pads should be reacting a whole lot better when I hit them. I don't know how the other MPC's pads feel but I hear that their pads have immaculate sensitivity compared to the 1000.

you know that's what I've done when adjusting the sensitivity of my pads, must be some across the board ignorance or something.........not that I blame them, but to complain is being Lazy

if you have to adjust the sensitivity to the pads(like I have) then do it, but don't complain online about it, it just makes you look like you haven't read the manual

i was lucky and got the "new" pads with my 1k, mate has the old ones and mine feel so much nicer to play, much kinder on the fingers!! is a skank none the less.

your pads are probably fine...unless they fail to trigger when hit or trigger at partial volume with a full hit (despite how bad they feel)

you will notice when they start dying...mine started essentially one by one...and about 8 of them eventually were completely unusuable...but if they fully trigger with a hit, then I would say that they are fine...

I just put new pads on today, and relative to the dead and dying pads, they work beautifully.

my long painful days of broken pads are so far gone...it's like an old scar that only hurts in the winter

its so strange nym... even me, somebody who had the new pads on my mpc1000 to begin with (and now a 2500 user) the fact that these pad issues even existed is kinda a real burdon on my whole mentality of the mpc1000, even though its still my favorite mpc... i'm just glad that the pad upgrade has finally become available, and people can start using their mpcs properly. what a shame though, for such a graceful little mahine, it's sad that it has had this thorn its side for so long...

the decision has been finally made...i just ordered the new pads, hopefully i can view the status on them in a few days...
