Broken Memory clips

I turned on my MPC this morning, and it went to an error screen, and said check memory. I opened up the back, and the little tabs that hold the ram in place were both broken. I just bought this MPC, and I am pretty angry. Whoever installed the memory broke it.

I found a replacement part, but it looks like it is a solder job, and doesnt just click in place. Has anyone replaced the memory clip hold down piece? Any suggestions?

careful planning, a rubber band, a cardboard shim, and epoxy fixed this problem indefinitely for me.

Can you take a picture of what you did for me? I was going to use Epoxy and make a metal clip to hold it in. I really want a fix that I wont have to worry about later on.

i have no camera, sorry. just use your brain and don't try anything too elaborate and you will be fine.

i have just bought a mcp1000 as well and as soon as i turned it on, i got the same memory fault page you did. can you or any one else give me some advice on how to fix it?

The best thing 2 do is replace the ram slot if your extremely useful with a soldering iron. The next best thing is to use hot glue to hold down the ram chip.

yeah i'm an electrical apprentice so i could probly handle it . But i don't think i quite like the idea of letting my handy work out on my mpc. I think i'll try the hot glue.

Use something that will fix it and fix it right, Gorilla glue, and use alot too!!!!!
