This forum is dedicated for users to talk about MPCs the last time I checked. People agree and disagree all the time..and it is ok. I have been using MPCs for over a decade and I am glad Akai is still around to produce these products. There is no other MPC I would rather have at the present time. I don't have to convince myself to like it. It is an amazing machine that replaced my MPC 2500. I would still be using an MPC 2500 if Akai didn't release this model. The fact that you don't want an MPC 5000 will not stop people from purchasing this machine and having fun using it. And the most exciting part of using this latest model is that more features will most likely be added.

Additionally, every MPC that was released in the past 10 years was hyped up..this includes the MPC 2500 and 4000.

Preset Management - how do you save and load individual patches, now many synth patches can be in the RAM at once?

Modulation Options - (no modulation matrix, only 1 LFO other then the 1 that is dedicated for Vibrato)

That's correct. 2 LFOs and one of those is dedicated for Vibrato. The 20-Voice synth sounds great and is a nice feature added to the MPC line. But with any feature, it can be improved. Looking through all the MPC feature requests threads, I don't recall anyone wanting more LFOs. But after doing some research on the Alesis Fusion (which now falls under the same umbrella as Akai and Numark) I would love to see more of its features make its way to the 5K. The Fusion has up to 8 LFOs......

As far as presets, you can easily create synth patches and save them. Its pretty simple. Loading them is also easy but there is no way to currently preview them which is a feature I would like to see added in the future. In fact, no MPC has a way to preview entire programs only individual sounds. Additionally, ALL MPCs have a limit to how many sounds or programs you can have in memory. Honestly, I will have to sit down and try to keep loading as many synth programs until I max out memory and report back because I never had any reason to do this. I create my synths patches from scratch or load a preset as a starting point and tweak it. Since the 5K only has 64 tracks, as long as I can have at least 64 programs..I am good. But more is always good IMHO.

Was there a point somewhere in your response that you were trying to make for me? The DSP programming you are talking about..the software that you say will never be bug free...is exactly my point. Roger Linn/Dave Smith will not do in 2 years what companies with much larger resources have been developing for a decade. If they really attempt to do what the claim and release it next year, it will have all kinds of bugs.

Seeing that most of us use Akai products..that is an odd question. Visit the MV-8800 forums...Roland isn't paying those guys. Visit the Digi forums...Digidesign is not paying those guys. Talking about MPCs is what most of us do. And this happens to be among the most popular threads/topics...

At the end of the day the MPC 5000 still sucks and is the lowest selling MPC ,ever! A*S(Askia Shaheed) talks too much to see it. Go ride the MPC5000 page. You are like a female: you won't SHUT UP!

As far as changing people's minds about the 5K?? I am not trying to do that. If Akai wants to sell you on the MPC 5000, it will be up to them to add things that will make it more attractive for you guys still on the fence. They already have my money and it was $3000 well spent. I even enjoying talking about it as much as I do using it. And I keep my comments about the 5K in threads such as this.

I am in Japan. The motherland of electronics. I let go my MPC 4000 and 3000 quite some time ago. If I feel the need to use them again, they are cheap and not too difficult to find.

Dude, this the MPC 4000 thread. We are here to talk about the 4000. Go away. None of us are stupid enough to buy a 5000. We could reay care less. Stop being disruptive with all of the 5000 talk. We don' t care. I bet this dude is a 13 year old military brat, who's parents bought him his first MPC. They just made the mistake of buying the 3500.
