That's a store photo. The 5000 must be on your wish list. the Fantom G is hot, though. You will need one for that MPC.

I'll say this, to make it fair, which one of these two is the best? Neither one IMO. But I'd prefer the one that has a proven record on stability, an o.s. that doesn't need constant updates in order for it to function properly, that's built for true studio intergration, and carries that legacy Akai tradition.

Bottomline, jahrome is a akai-gear whore, as soon as they release the next "amazing" mpc he will ditch the 5000 and buy that and itll be the same talk again but with the mpc6000. Everyone thats been on this forum for some years knows this.

Was there a point somewhere in your response that you were trying to make for me? The DSP programming you are talking about..the software that you say will never be bug free...is exactly my point. Roger Linn/Dave Smith will not do in 2 years what companies with much larger resources have been developing for a decade. If they really attempt to do what the claim and release it next year, it will have all kinds of bugs.

It was purely in response to your post. Your post was trying to indicate that because there are bugs in Akai and Roland
hardware that it's rocket science to make a Midi Sequencer with Sampling/Sample playback abilities. I was merely responding
to YOUR post, indicating that from somebody who works in the Software/Hardware industry doing Software debugging for Products MUCH more complex then any product that Akai or Roland has put out, coding this type of product is NOT Rocket Science. What I do is NOT Rocket Science and and what Akai and Roland are doing is DEFINITELY not Rocket Science...

There has been attempts, but they all have been ruined by Anti-Akai rhetoric. So, I will take this as a challenge to create that one or maybe two threads...threads coming from two perspectives. The threads will list features/functions that are exclusive to both units.

Lets ask a more interesting question...

Where do you get the money to be buying all this equipment seeing as you're on here defending the 5K way too often to hold down a full time job??!

That's funny..because many of you are in here as much as me talking about numerous subjects. These days, I prefer to keep talking about MPCs and other pieces of gear. Namm is coming and I hope Akai and even Roland have some good news for their product lines.

To answer your question directly.....selling my MPC 2500 and the US Government Surplus check paid for my MPC 5000. I purchased my Fantom G from American Musical. It was a little expensive but the monthly payment plan is nice.

You made 552 posts since becoming a member in march. Is that all that your about: becoming an expert member. Try posting something with some quality. Your quantity has been a bunch of BS. The must not be anything to do in Japan.
