I recently purchased a copy of the MOTU Machive Software running with a HD192 Interface on a G4 Inside Logic 6 and i must say i;am truly thinking about moving off the MPC2000XL onto this due to the endless amount of features making your work flow very creative.

You can access any sample at anytime and assign it anywhere whilst the groove is still bangin on your system.....you can add FX/ Resample/layer samples add 7 diff filter types per sample .

When you open MACHFIVE you only need to open the one on your virtual instrument cause it's designed like the S5000.6000. You can upload 16 PROGRAMS with control of every filter type on every sample on each program. also the FX section offers Per Program 4 insert fx / 4 program FX/4 Master fx/4 Aux fx/ (YES PER PROGRAM)

The have Delay's which sync straight up to your tempo....Bit crusher which as aload of mirage/asr/S900 presets for messin the sound up.

There is also a AVI extractor which reads ALL sample formats (ie) S56000/MPC/SND/ROLAND/EXS24/SD2/EMU/

I have being a big big fan of hardware samplers for many years ....but have a look at this in action even if you work it along side your set up.

That's cool for you. The endless amount of features would scare me to dead and kill that little bit of creativity that I have sometimes. Don't mean to rain on your parade or whatsoever it's just how I feel about software, in the end it boils down to the result, MPC or software are just a mean to make music not a purpose.

My G4 is a dual 866 or 867 (whatever!!!!!) Inside i have a UAD-1 card along with alot of outboard equipment.

I have never seen the Mac run over 50% of CPU so yes it's bangin.....As for the Machfive..... the sound is very high compared to alot of other soft synths out there.......I would say the MPC has a little more punch (maybe to do with the envelopes or something....but weighing up features and creative flow the M5 could be the future .

More people need to check this sampler out!!!!
