I kind of want to trade my mpc 1000 for an old 2000xl

trust me bro the xl will work better for you than the 1000. HOWEVER, i dont think buying an xl is ur best option.

I would keep ur 1000 and save up money until u have enough to buy a 2500. in the long term it will be the better decision (u get the best of both worlds).

i own an xl and love it, but in a year or two i will probably get an 2500. the only thing that bothers me is that i am so used to the xl i dont wanna go to a 2500 and 're-learn' how to use the machine.

the s950 is dope but my understanding is that it is a 'luxury' rather than a necessity. eg - get the mpc u want, and then later if u have money left get a 950 so that u can sample into it and get some crunch.

S950 as sampler and mpc1k as sequencer will work just fine as well. Unless u want to do the sample editing in the xl. Otherwhise (mpc as just a sequencer) the type of mpc will not make any difference.

Just do what will work out best for you. You'll never find out unless u've tryed it. And sometimes a downgrade in hardware causes a upgrade in creativity.

I really wonder why 1k/25k users dont ever mention that they both sound like shit, Iam actually amazed, but then I say to myself maybe the ( most ) users of these machines are noob's or sonically challenged and cant tell the diff between warm / thin weak sund if it smacked them in the face.



I did say MOST users anf the word MAYBE.
