60, 950 to 3000

Hmmm...I would search around on vintagesynth.com for some other cool old samplers. You could always try an emulator or a mirage (as long as you're willing to get down and dirty with some seriously quirky programming). Maybe also look for the super-ghetto S700 (do some research first though).

i just got an idea i could use instead of old school sampler.

I can burn my sample to cd, then record it onto a tape, then sample from the tape into my mpc. anyone use this method or tried it? wat do u think?

Won't get the same sound but you certainly should try it and see what you think. You can save yourself the trouble of burning yer samples to CD if you have a decent sound card. Get a stereo-mini to stereo-RCA adaptor from Radio Shack and go straight from the computer's speaker output to your tape deck's inputs. Try various input levels.

ive decided that im just goin to buy a 950!!!

I know cash converters smith st have an s950 sitting there but its priced @ $500 and the screen isn't working properly (the display just shows black instead of characters)

when i say 10 minutes to cut up a break, i mean taking like a two bar break and cutting every single hit in it and turning it into a program!
cutting a kick hat and snare would be faster but i like to have the whole break to choose from, see what fits best. Then i just have all my breaks on disks as a sample library.
I really only use the s950 for drums
anyway, i love my s950, its the bomb!

COOL. yeah i rang them the other day but they don't have any at the moment. Yeah i would buy the one you mentioned but if the screen is screwed not worth the money. is a screen fix easy? also can places in melbs service them? I'm going to use the 950 for drums, u think it does well for loops and instrument samples too or not really?

I contacted a place interstate that has one but not sure if they ship, i will find out.

The 60II and the 3000 are the same, if you've got the 3.10 software on the 60II. Minus memory, and filters of the 3000. To me the 60II is slower, especially loading samples. I have a S3000, but have really used it yet. It needs repair. I will pair my 60II up with the S3000.
I never understand why people would use an S950 with the MPC60. They both are 12bit!
Why does the Emax always come when we are talking about MPCs and S- series samplers?
