Should i have patience?

I can buy a 2 year old blue mpc 1000 from someone for € 500. I came to check out this forum if i needed to know anything before buying a used mpc and i came across a lot of posts about the new pads and that the old pads will die etc..

So my question is, should i buy this one and hope the pads wont die on me soon ( ive read that if i want to fix the pads it going to cost me like 200 dollars/euros to get it fixed? ) or should i have patience and buy the newer mpc with the fixed pads ?

It will be my first MPC btw.

There are always black 1000s with new pads on ebay selling for cheap. You just have to wait for the right deal.

500 euros is about 400 pounds . Are you buying from the uk cause ive seen brand new ones for about £470?

yeah i got my black one w/nice pads for 500 squids NEW in uk a hot minute ago...i can tell its getting older cause a friend of mine w/a new one came thru with his...everything was the same as mine hardwarewise 'cept his screen is SO BRIGHT....guess its time for the replacement blue stylez...

yeah just get a newer black one, i bought a blue one off ebay came with broken pads and static on the outs and headphone jack, i dont know how to fix that shit either.

Lets say i see a black mpc 1000 being sold for a good price and i asked the person if it has the new pads, how can he see if his mpc has those new pads? I read something about moving the pads and if you move one the whole thing moves?

How about in a store, i found a store that sells the black mpc 1000 for € 899, how can i be sure its the one with the new pads, i think i wont be able to play around with the pads and move them to see if its the right one.

The easiest way to tell if you have the new pads is to grab one pad and try to move it around, if another pad moves then they are new, the new pads are connected. The old ones are seperated. Also you can take the corner of the bottom left or right pad and you will be able to pull part of the pad up and through the casing. This is not possible with the old pads. Just incase someone asks doing that wont ruin the pads.

I do have another last question. At this moment i have just enough money to buy a NEW mpc for € 900. I dont want to spend all the money i have so i will have to save up some more but i actually cant wait any longer lol.. so when i buy this 2 year old used blue mpc from a guy for € 500 and when the pads die eventually ( dont know how long that will take ) i will have to get them replaced with the newer pads for like 200 euros am i right? So that means 500+200 = 700 instead of a new one with new pads for 900. Would this be a wise decision?

Also when i buy the used one and the pads die or maybe a couple of them, how do i need to replace them without a warranty? Can i just call Akai and ask them if they want to replace them with the new pads or ?

Well my first 1k was a blue one that i bought used, I couldnt wait to get it so I jumped on it. I started having problems with the pads, then the headphone jack, then the HD fried on me. This was in only a few months. I ended up just selling it and buying a new one and havent had any issues since. What I am getting at is that the instant savings may not be worth it if it causes a tremendous headache and forces you to put money into it. Remember its always going to be the older 1k so if you decide to sell it your not going to be able to ensure that you will get all your money back. Think of it this way, what if dude with the blue MPC tried to dell it to you for top dollar because it had the new pads. Its still an old 1k. Now for a few bucks more you get a brand new one with all new parts and a warranty. I personally regret not waiting for a new one. But the choice is yours homie.

Thanks man your right. My problem is that i have very little patience but im not stupid to buy a mpc that will have loads of problems just because i cant wait a few months. New mpc it is, or if i come across a used but newer version with the new pads etc.
