In JJ OS1, it was possible to define a MIDI note for any pad in a program.
OS2 introduced DRUM and INST programs, and it seems that MIDI note assignment is not possible for DRUM programs, only for INST - is this true? Do all the DRUM programs now work according to global definitions (MIDI/SYNC page in MODE+PAD9)?

I want to connect an electronic drum set to the MPC, so I need an easy way to assign samples to MIDI notes. Any tips are welcome!

in the main screen, just put the cursor over where the MIDI note is displayed (to the right of the pad /assigned sample name) and turn the data wheel to assign it to any MIDI note you want. you can also do this in the MODE + PAD 9 page (under the NOTE tab) and it will show you any potential conflicts with an asterisk when you change the notes.
